Day 17

Time to upgrade our computers. Having made the switch to 4K resolution videos a while ago was certainly worth it for the quality and look, but it made working with these large video files quite a struggle.

Since the file size of everything we film now quadrupled, every project that requires lots of colour grading, effects or multi-camera work, turned into a test of our nerves. It works but it’s sloooow and things are prone to crash.

With 8K around the corner, we decided it’s time to upgrade our computer system to make for a smoother and more efficient workflow. Which by the way, is also partly supported by you guys. Your donations, membership subscriptions and purchases all help us improve the technical machinery that makes all and everything you see here on this website and in our video productions possible. So kudos all ‘round!

  1. This photo looks like a movie scene of a bomb being disarmed. Mona is about to cut the wrong pair of wires and Rudi is screaming “NO!!! NOT THOSE!!!

    1. LOL! Good one. Upon quick glance from a distance, it looked like Mona was being interviewed with mic’s in her face.

  2. That is a very relatable photo. I started switching to digital in 1991 with a 486 and Win 3.0. 100’s of upgrades since. That’s why I don’t have any hair. Mona’s mallet is the best tool ever.

      1. The future is here with holograms. Tons of applications. It would be great for work. I can have a life size me sitting at my desk while I go golfing! ?

  3. It is very beautiful to see how you are evolving: better and better sound and increasingly better and better video clips. I’ll have to try to contribute more. Congratulations.

  4. Glad to see Lampi is staying safe?.
It looks as of Mona has been beating the Crap out of the equipment, and Rudi caught her.????
Thank you for letting us know what some of our donations and dues are going towards. Really glad its helping you become Even more efficient than you already are.
Always nice to hear from time to time where donations go. Thanks again for telling us. ?❤

  5. Hardware upgrade? I don’t even know what it means, let alone how to do one. Don’t you just throw the old one out and get a new one, like we do with just about everything else?

    1. You could probably do that, too, but dad likes to build his/our computers from scratch to save $$ and get exactly the components he wants. Oh, and we don’t have a clue what any of these things spread across his workbench are either. Sometimes he talks about benchmark tests and motherboards and server speeds and cat 6 cables … and we try our best to hold onto the information for a few minutes before it gets drowned out again by some song lyrics 😉

  6. I’m gone for what seems like a sneeze and all these Advent Calendar windows are opened! Catching up on all theses great posts.
Oh, how I fancy hardware upgrades, not! I recognize Rudolf’s face as my own in such situations. though I don’t tend bring a camera to those occasions, nor a pair of twin daughters. Maybe a pair of pliers, probably not as helpful. MSI has worked for me though, so hope it works for the Wagner’s as well.
Now, the twins are young, I’ve known many a pretty face that as they age, they do not want high definition, let alone 4K. The key word is “soft-filter” ?

  7. Tool Time Tunes…. Upgrading Blues… Upgrade Resurrection Perfection…. Tweak and Tune…. From sun to moon…. The MLTBuzzing Computers will be improved and zoom…. Lol… OK, that is your Poetical chirp from me on this… Glad it will all “Come Together” ???️?️

  8. Phew, I thought Lampi Bampi got lost, but had to look extra hard to find him. ? That looks like some serious hardware there with some big cooling fan. Great creations require a lot of horsepower for sure.

    1. I see now. Must be resting there. Either that or the little dear was getting in the way and had to be restrained!

  9. Nice catch Howard! I didn’t notice at first…perhaps Lampi’s nosing through the toolbox for a left-handed metric screwdriver. I do like the color coordination between Mona’s outfit and Rudi’s clockwise rotary hard drive polisher; it’s a sure sign of a successful operation!

  10. Nice to know the MLT Club is supporting your upgrades. I didn’t know you were handy with an adjustable spanner Mona. But then again, you guys can do anything you put your mind to.

Is Lampibampi having a rest today? ?❤️
