Day 7 – Christmas Poem

Rhymes and Chimes for Christmas Times …

Welcome to Day 7 of this Advent Calendar – we’re a week in! We have finished the design for the 2021 wall calendar (part of your prize if you collect 180+ points) and it went to the printing plant this morning. We love how many of you are taking part in these little daily challenges, so we made sure to order enough 🙂 We should be able to send them out shortly after Christmas – Read up on the rules & prizes again here.

Today’s little task: Write a Christmas poem!

When we wrote “All I Want Christmas To Be” last year, we very much drew from our experiences growing up. It is one of the more personal songs we have ever recorded, and a lot of very specific warm (but also freezing ???? ) memories come flooding back every time we sing or hear it.

Perhaps you would like to put your own feelings about this time of the year into words! We’d love to read them and think it would be lovely to share some festive poetry in the comments.

Just like you don’t have to be Picasso to take part in yesterday’s challenge, you don’t have to be Shakespeare today. Let’s just have some fun with words, express ourselves through stringing together words and phrases, scribble or type down tiny black lines so that they somehow manage to convey thoughts and feelings and tell stories from the past and future. Us humans are funny creatures ????

  1. In the midst of the dark, at the end of the year,
is one day that radiates hope and good cheer
A day that, when colors have faded to white
reflects all the colours of long strings of light.
It’s a day when the grumbly all sing together
from door step to doorstep, no matter the weather.
A day for the children! A day for the poor.
A day when folks give all that they can, and then more.
One day, when smiles replace all the drear,
in the midst of the dark, at the end of the year,
one day, which radiates love and good cheer.
So why can’t we make it last all through the year?

  2. IKEA doesn’t sell trees this year so I’ll change plans I fear do I go artificial that’s just too superficial I need the smell of pine that creeps the house so fine So grab my axe outside follow tracks to evergreen I might have seen I think that tree is calling me

  3. A Christmas in Florida,
    Is quite a strange scene,
Don’t wish for a White one
    We only have green.

    The snowmen are plastic
    or filled up with air
‘Cause it doesn’t get cold enough
    for Frosty to appear.

No sleigh rides, no sledding no snowballs to throw
‘Cause all of those things would require some snow
So we throw around beach balls and ski on the water
we make warm sandy angels, it’s really no bother.

But it’s still a great time
with all the gifts, food and laughter
‘Cause after all when it comes to Christmas,
    the temperature doesn’t matter.

  4. If you look for me at Christmas,

    you won’t need a special star;

I’m no longer just in Bethlehem,

I’m right there where you are.

You may not be aware of Me

    amid the celebrations.

You’ll have to look beyond the stores

    and all the decorations.

But if you take a moment

from your list of things to do,

and listen to your heart, you’ll find

    I’m waiting there for you.

You’re the one I want to be with,

you’re the reason that I came,

and you’ll find Me in the stillness,

    as I’m whispering your name.

    Love, Jesus

  5. Here’s my poem
    Hope you enjoy!

    Snow in the air
    Cold everywhere
    Toes start numbing
    Christmas is coming!

    Darkness falls sooner
    Leftover tuna
    No need to be bumming
    Christmas is coming!

    Leaves off trees
    Pipes can freeze
    Not worried about plumbing
    Christmas is coming!

    Wandering in stores
    Decorating chores
    Shopping and running
    Christmas is coming!

    Joyous songs galore
    Music in every store
    MLT songs humming
    Christmas is coming!

Advent reflection and peace of mind
    Jesus sent to save mankind
    Christ child so loving
    Christmas is coming!

  6. It’s Christmas In Austria

Two precious girls, with parents in tow
    eyes full of wonder opened wide as they’ll go;
Listen for the bell, hearts pound like a drum
hoping the Christkind has already come!
    The Christmas tree sparkles like the little girl’s eyes;
diamonds in the sun or stars in night skies.
    It’s Christmas in Austria, and all over the world;
and there’s magic in the room with two
    adorable girls!
    They’ll one day create their own magic for us;
it’ll come like Saint Nicholas without old Krampus!
    And, it’s Christmas in Austria, everywhere all year long;
as long as those sisters keep playing us songs!
    Because, there’s magic whenever those precious girls play;
so, it’s Christmas in Austria and everywhere every day.
    They reach deep in our hearts and sprinkle our minds;
with harmonies and music that’s one of a kind!
    The chills that you feel are the magic they make;
all of it’s real, nothing is fake.
It’s Christmas in Austria, and thanks to those girls
it’s Christmas in Austria, and all over the world.
    It’s Christmas where ever those amazing twins play;
to bring us their music and brighten our day.
    It’s Christmas in Austria and Liverpool, too;
All year around with whatever they do!
    These two special girls with all that they are;
it’s Christmas to the world… It’s Christmas In Austria!!
    MERRY CHRISTMAS!!

  7. Christmas With Rudi’s Girls-
As Christmas approaches, we’re carried back years
To recall moments we cherish so dear.
Big bright eyes, smiles on their faces
Santa has left “he had to be in other places”.
Gifts were opened with laughter and songs ,
soon little bodies are exhausted and rest that they long.
But… I look down my hall so dark and so quiet
All of my rooms share not one Christmas light.
But wait, as sunlight appears and streams through the drapes
My heart gets a twinkle and heart starts to glow
I think i hear little feet and cute little toes.
There’s giggles and smiles as gifts unfold… and even a little Puppy to hold!!
I suddenly remember its been many years but what’s in my mind will always be clear.
So, now you see Rudi knows what its like to to have beautiful Twins, wake up Christmas morning to beautiful grins.
A kindred spirit Rudi and I share, brotherhood if you will, it’s one of our own.
As the Christmas stream trickles down across the stones…
I know how you feel brother……
As I had the magic of beautiful Twin Girls of my own…..

  8. Hey Mona and Lisa!

I just wanted you to know how much I love this song! I takes me back to my long ago Christmas times when I was a child and everything was so magical and exciting. My parents made Christmas so special for my brother and sister and me and I feel exactly the same way about Christmas to this day because of them. Thinking about all of the Christmas songs that I love and sing every year, I don’t think any of them express the feelings of those long ago Christmases like All I Want Christmas To Be. Thank you both for an amazing new Christmas song!

I have downloaded the lyrics to your song but I would love to have the chords, also, if you wouldn’t mind sending them to me.

    Merry Christmas!

  9. The Christmas inside me
The first memories were colorful and bright
Everything was big, everything was fun
The decorated tree was huge for me
Under the decorated branches they put gifts
Everyone stood around it …hugged and smiled
For me it was the best time of the year
But every Christmas I grew and the tree seemed smaller
Today, I’m as tall as the tree
Today, I know how those gifts get there
But when I see little ones looking at that
    ” huge tree”
And I see their eyes shining
Like the lights that shine on the tree
So… I know that Christmas will always be inside me.

  10. The days are short,
There are still things to sort.
Will there be snow this week?
    Will the children peak?
    Whatever happens with the weather,
All I want for Christmas is for us to be together.
    So wrap up warm,
    Stifle that yawn.
We’ll get up early and go for a walk,
Just you and me alone in the park.
Then winter sun breaks through the trees,
The shafts of light makes me ask ‘please’
‘Can we head back home for hot toast and tea?’
‘And make plans for the family we’ll see.’
    Whether in person or online,
We’ll sing our favourite songs, in or out of time.

  11. The MLT Advent Calendar is so dear,
We look forward to it every year
This December we have our tasks
And we all do as the Twins ask.

    Bill and Phil,
    Tim and Lynn,
    Rich and Rick,
    Chris and Craig,
    Steve and Stephen,
    Jacki and Jung,
All join in on the fun.

It’s a cup of joy and a bite of laughter
The Calendar prize seems quite sought after
This year I’ve got a hunch,
The Wagner’s will have to post a bunch.

Wishing this is a new tradition
    For our hearts will lighten
    And our souls will brighten,
    Frohe Weinachten.

  12. What’s this? Write a poem for Christmas you say?
As if I had talent like you two -no way!
And if I could write such a thing, just suppose…
it would certainly take much too long to compose.

Anyway this year’s Christmas is weird at the least.
Good tidings are lacking -the mood is decreased.
With virus and lock-downs and masking and such,
how can I still smile and wish others God’s touch?

Then what do I see on my laptop appear?
A new Christmas video abounding with cheer!
It soars and flies and floats from above,
And tells the whole world to smile and to LOVE.

I jumped up from my stupor and quick grabbed my pen,
A poem is needed to be cheerful again!
So I gave it my best and to my surprise,
it worked! it worked! (those Twins are so wise!)

So to Mona and Lisa and all friends in the Club,
have a Wonderful Christmas!!! -and give Covid the snub!

  13. As an older man, I look around and only have memories of Christmas past, but I hope the poem I sent in a message was the right place. Seeing you two girls helped take me back to a magical time in my life. Thank you for making making Christmas a much happier place. You girls make the world a better place… I think I was suppose to send the poem here…. my bad. Look in your message box. OOPS!

    1. Fished it out of the message box for everyone to enjoy ♥️:

  14. Christmas Time

Christmas time is indeed a magical time,
not because of the gifts, decorations, nor the treats,
but only for the time, the time we make
for one another, family, friends, and acquaintances.

When all things pass, and things are said and done,
it’s those moments that matter the most,
moments we will embrace with passion, longing, and love one day,
for Christmas’s ultimate gift are those rich moments it helped to make.

Christmas brings us together, family, friends, and acquaintances,
from nearby and long distances, it draws us together.
In peace, love, and harmony, it was meant to be,
but for some of us alone, it is OK, just be kind to yourself, love yourself because you deserve it.

As a child, the wonder, and warm memories, of fairy tale times Christmas is.
As we grow older, Christmas time brings out the beautiful child we once were.
Christmas reminds us to never lose that wonder and awe for life.
Stay curious, creative, and hungry for new adventures.

Have some Sticky Toffee Pudding at Christmas.

  15. Tis the Season….

    Tis the Season
    To join in song
    New songs to hymns
    You can’t go wrong!

    Wonderful Christmastime
    The First Noel
    Walking in the Air
    Let your voices swell!

    Snow Falls Softly at Night
    Hark! The Herald Angels Sing
    Happy Xmas (War is Over)
    Let the Anthems ring!

    It’s the Most Wonderful
    Time of the Year
    Peace on Earth/
    Little Drummer Boy
    Have Yourself a
    Merry Little Christmas
    So many songs
    that bring us all joy!

    Silent Night
    Santa Baby
    Winter Wonderland
    Sung A capella
    Or played with a band!

    Raising voices in song
    With friends and family
    It is truly
All I want Christmas to be!

  16. What’s this then, a poem?
    A poem everyone
The laddie fancies himself a poet
    New car
    Caviar
    Four star daydream
Think I’ll buy me a football team
Absolute rubbish, get back to your work
    %$#@^*&)(&!(fromthewall)

The wonders of Christmas are nowhere in sight
In the light of the sun or the shivering night
They are here in our hearts
Wait all year to be free
For the pleasure of giving is all that we need

or Christmas makes me think about skiing

Sprung by a smile or a twinkling glow
Our hearts dreams of slopes under new fallen snow
As we rise through the sky in a chair six butts wide
    Hang on to your hat
    It’s a pretty quick ride
There’s a yard sale below, try not to stare
    Those boots look brand new
How’d her hat get over there?
We’re almost to the top, so put away your phone
It’s time to relax, no need to call home
    Sure it looks steep
    That’s cause it is
So drop on in, swish, swish, swish

    • In case you are not familiar with skiing slang, a yard sale is when a skier wipes out, blows out of their skis and poles and what have you, and winds up in a heap on the ground with their equipment spread around like a yard sale.  In the best case scenario this will occur on a trail under a chairlift filled with an attentive audience that is dying to laugh, ridicule and applaud, while some bleeding heart yells out, “Are you okay?”
  17. OK, I posted this several hours ago and it apparently got sent to the void, so I’m trying again…

I usually refine and rework poems for weeks before they see the light of day and I usually wait for them to come to me, not try to force one out. But for the sake of the assignment, I scribbled one down:

    Santa loaded up his sleigh
    With lots of extra alcohol
    It wasn’t for consumption;
    He didn’t drink at all

    But no viruses could linger
On the gifts he left behind
So he carefully wiped down every one
Just to give them peace of mind

    The foggy parts were tricky
    Rudolph’s nose did little good
Its light was hidden behind a mask
But he tried as best he could

    So many tempting cookies
    Frosty milk he couldn’t touch
    To find their treats untasted
    Wouldn’t please them very much

The presents he could barely see
He hoped he got them right
But his mask fogged up his glasses
And it didn’t help his sight

Still, the one gift that he gave to all
He knew would bring good cheer
The hope that things would soon be right
And a better year next year

  18. Twelfth month is upon us, a time held most dear,
A uniquely cheery time of the year,
Rife with fellowship, laughter and cheer.

Good wishes to others naturally flow,
They relentlessly run wherever you go,
    Adelaide sunshine or Englandy snow.

Gathering with family and friends face to face,
Or within the ether, pretty sure there’s a place,
Some assembly required, try to do it with grace.

All by yourself or part of a crowd,
Let’s get together and get a bit loud,
We’re here in this moment, we’re allowed to be proud.

So do join with others, no chance should you snub,
Meet in a café, a park or a pub,
Or even perhaps you could join in a…club.

  19. As the holiday season is upon us
And the weather is turning cold
It;s a great time for giving
    For young and for old
It’s a time to reflect on family
Making sure they know how you feel
    Maybe it’s your girl friend
Under the mistletoe a kiss you can steel
    Just make sure you know
Christmas is so much more than a gift
Try being nice to a stranger
    Try giving someone a lift
    So with that being said
    Merry Christmas to all
Reach out to a love one
    Give them a call

  20. Christmas 2020
Hello Christmas and how lovely it is to see you. If you havent heard? 2020 has been a very different and crazy year for us. We know that you can lift our spirits and boy do we need it. We have been pushed to wearing masks and social distancing and for good reason so we are safe and help keep other’s safe. So our Christmas wish is please send your spirit upon us and lift us up so we can get thru this dark times and help us to live and enjoy this life like we know. As our friends Mona and Lisa say…this is all I want Christmas to be.

  21. And, yet another freshly conjured up Xmas Poem Baked from the CreativeMindPoetical Oven:

    ” Christmas Cake Approach ”

    Traditional or not
    It’s how one makes it
    What matters is the ingredients
The care and love put forth
    Each is unique
    To give but one recipe
    Yet the outcome varies
What matters is that it’s Baked With Faith and Heart
    Inspirational Creativity for a start
    Best Tasting and shared
    Amongst Family and Friends
    Whose presence in your lives
    Postivity transcends
    Add what’s important
As told from a XmasAngel Coach

  22. Christmas

Have you seen what a magical snowflake just fell at your feet?
It reminds of my soul that laying for you on this street
But you’re asking again one more time to leave you alone
You don’t wish any snowflakes for Christmas, you need your iPhone

Can you hear that sound of the wind singing a love song for you?
I created that tune as I want you to reach something new
And again you just shrugged. And for you once again there’s no matter
That’s so crazy: the wind as a gift – since Chanel No. 5 would be better

Can you feel that this freeze is crawling under your jeans?
Snuggling up to your skin as such close as I do in my dreams
But you’re telling again that I’ll never become even one for you
You don’t want any freeze for this Christmas, you wish BMW…

So be it. Father Christmas, I pray you to hear my voice
Please forgive, Father Christmas, I leave you to making this choice
There is one gift of two, that’s for you to decide what would be:
Father Christmas, new BRAIN – that’s for her or new HEART – that’s for me

  23. 5 Haikus for a MLT Christmas

    Winter’s snow and ice
    Bright, glistening together
    Like twins, beautiful

    Two voices, floating
    Snowflakes in the crystal air
    Touching ears and hearts

    Gold and crimson smiles
    Like paired joyous ornaments
    Adorning tree, life

    Your gift, song but more
    Joys once forgot now alive
    A heart’s holiday

    Your words ring so true,
And may your Christmas be all
    you want it to be!

  24. Best I can come up with.. sigh

it’s hard to be festive this year
after months of sickness and fear
there’s been more tears than joys
we’re getting more fears not toys
but mona and lisa still bring me some cheer

  25. After Christmas Comes My Christmas

My beloved visitors and their laughter have departed for the next stop.
The delightful aromas of our dinner linger in my cozy dwelling
And days’ worth of tasty leftover memories chill in small containers.
The only light comes from a now isolated Christmas tree
Under which once countless brightly wrapped gifts reigned supreme.
Here and there, bits of paper and tape cling defiantly to the carpet
And a forgotten child’s sock adorns a pillow on the couch.
A host of snowflakes are performing their own ballet in the frosty outdoors
While an audience of one watches them in a suddenly pervasive silence.

Now the time has come for me to contemplate Christmas in my own way.
The Creator of all the universe became one of us so many years ago,
Leaving unimaginable splendor to lovingly serve in a most humble way.
    His was an expression of love for humanity beyond all understanding;
The most precious and meaningful Gift for me and for all: redemption.
What I could not possibly do, He willingly took on as His life’s work.

    1. I tried to type this out as a 15 line blank verse but it reads like a paragraph. 🙁 The title is “After Christmas Comes My Christmas”. My apologies.

    2. Such emotive imagery! ♥
And yes, the text shows up right (in paragraphs) when you click the “read more” button.

  26. Christmas Star Man

I know there is a Star man always waiting in the sky
He’s been there for a while now and he see the snow float by
The people of the Earth all wait, for a sign from up above
As an other-worldly angel watches silently with love

Some watch the skies for miracles, some watch the skies for snow
A single star-clad watcher views their observances below
One says he’s seen the Star Man, another says he can’t exist
But all agree at Christmas time that Star Angels bring a gift

The Star Man knows that one day soon
From endless waiting he’ll be free
But until then his love for all mankind
Remains a star atop a Christmas Tree

I know there is a Star Man waiting for us all
Take a look out of your window, as the Christmas Eve snows fall
Following a certain star high towards the North
The Christmas Star Man sends his love, with peace for one and all.

  27. I’m going to try 2 poems the first being a proper one for all Christians (although I am lapsed) whilst the second will be a limerick and will follow
    .
    Midnight Mass

Congregations meet all across the land
In churches decorated oh so grand
Candles flicker to signal the birth
Of the saviour sent down for all on earth
All those present sing and pray
At this the start of their special day
Their hope for the future is reborn
With the love that comes in with the dawn.

    1. Silly limerick time, well sort of, as my second contribution.

Rudolph’s the one with the big red nose
How do you think that he got one of dose
Well Santa drinks all the sherry
      Which makes him overly merry
Unable to control the sleigh and it shows.

Explanation for those not from the UK. It is tradition to leave a glass of sherry (or the likes) by the fireplace so that once he has come down the chimney he can have a thank you drink.

  28. “Waiting for Santa”

Hey Santa, won’t you bring me a toy
I’ve been stuck inside for months now
But I’ve been a good boy
    There’s something ‘bout this Covid
That’s been taking all my joy
So won’t you come down my chimney
    And please
    Bring me a toy

Hey Santa, don’t you see the snow
It’s been piling up for hours and its
    Piling deeper still
It’s gonna cover up my chimney
I’m not trying to be coy
But you better get here soon
So you can bring me a toy.

  29. Here’s a Christmas poem I wrote years ago for my daughter:

    Missin’ You At Christmas

    I’ve been shoppin’,
    put up a Christmas tree,
    wrapped a bunch of presents
to you from Santa and me,
    set out some lights
    outside for all to see,
    but it ain’t Christmas
’till you come home to me.

    It’s cold outside,
    they say it’s gonna snow;
    I should be happy,
    but my heart it just says no;
    somehow at Christmas,
    missing you it seems to grow;
    it’s just not Christmas
’till your light makes me glow.

You know it won’t be Christmas
’till you are here with me,
so please come home for Christmas
and bring Christmas home to me.

  30. I already concede that Jacki Hopper will have the best poem but here’s my try

    It’s hard to feel cheer
    at Christmas this year
    with all the disaster around.
But with Mona and Lisa here
to bring in the new year
pure Christmas joy we will have found!

  31. Christmas is coming so let’s all cheer
A time for celebration, and maybe some beer!
The tree is trimmed with tinsel and lights
For children it seems to reach great heights.
Mum’s in the kitchen huffing and puffing
The turkey is bought and ready for stuffing.
Potatoes and carrots and parsnip and sprouts
All need preparing and she’s having doubts.
Will they be cooked and ready to eat
At the same time as the sausages and meat?
A sherry or two later she doesn’t give a fig
The task is diminishing and now’s not as big.
On time it is finished and all on the plate
All expertly planned and not left to fate.

  32. I don’t understand why this joy that we feel
In this holiday season so loving and real
Can’t last thru the new year, thru summer and fall
With peace everlasting, and goodness to all

For every heart that is searching for love
Should find what they’re looking for fresh from above
Cuz lonely’s not lonely when someone is there
To stand right beside them to comfort and care

So let’s be the ones who will take up the fight
And live every day as we do Christmas night
And stand with the ones who are lost in the storm
For that is the reason the Christ child was born

I know we can do this, cuz you are all cool
You’ll carry this spirit now way past the Yule
And live as tho you’re in some big Christmas movie
And show everyone what it means to stay groovy

  33. Christmas List

What presents for Christmas, you ask?
Well, something to put in a flask

A place to go walk in the snow
    Without being twenty below

A jacket that’s warmer than coals
    My old one’s developing holes

    A fantasy novel to read
    Or Hiaasen, he’s good indeed

    Another thing I haven’t got:
    A theremin, really, why not

    A safe and effective vaccine
A shoulder onto which to lean

    I’d like reuniting with friends
As soon as the pandemic ends

A moment or two with some cats
A day without tweets and red hats

  34. Does Christmas feel the same this year
With all that has happened to you and me
Do the colorful lights bring us cheer
Is hope shining bright enough to see

Does the tree look the same to me
or does it bring pain for more lives lost today
Can we look past what has happened to see
What really matters…love lighting the way

To be able to see hope, love, and joy win
to rise up and shake ourselves free
Free to love and be happy again
That is my Christmas wish for us all, my friend

  35. Christmas is a moment of special time
it is a moment full of charm
there is no telling when it will surprise you.

It is time for ornates showcases
it is time of allusive songs and recurring smells
but the moment you feel it, your whole being understands
that,at last, again, Christmas came to you

  36. A christmas wish

The snow is falling heaven is calling out
    Fir peace
Hark we hear the Angel’s sing in harmony
Bringing happiness for you and me

A Christmas wish to.one and all
As the snow starts to fall

The snow is glistening as the Angels sing we are intently listening
Decorating the home, putting up the tree happy times will be

    Meeting the family, playing games.
    Unwrapping presents around the tree
    Each year is the same
Kissing under the mistletoe children having fun
    In the snow

  37. I just call it: “Christmas” – not being an English native speaker, I hope it’s at least understandable:

    Christmas is coming,
    it’s in the air,
    the holiday season,
    so bright and aware

    A candle is burning,
    it lights up the room,
    with sparkles of warmth,
    and hopefulness looms

    The scents of the fruits,
    chocolate and sweets,
    full of colours and flavours,
    mouth-watering treats

    Music is playing
    with traditonal and modern voice,
    alike in the message
of wonder and love it rejoice’.

    In presence or thoughts,
    all will be around –
    this time of the year
    peace and harmony are found

    1. That’s gorgeous! I wouldn’t be able to tell you’re not a native speaker but then, we might not be the best to judge that 😉 I think this turned out beautiful ♥

  38. Oh Yes…. a poetical challenge…. Thankyou 😀

    “The Christmas Heart Spirit”

The magical time this particular season does bring
How it eminates the Positivity in everything
    The songs lifts our moods
    Excitement begins
Church Bells on Christmas Eve and Day rings
    The Angel sings
    Love and Peace
    Harmony bliss
    For the most part yes
But some can’t embrace and sadly miss
    For their own reasons
    One cannot guess
    Santa and company
    Food and drink
    Love of Family and Friends
    Decorations and traditions
    Laughter and such
    Abundantly shared
    Conveyed much
Celebrate what is true to you
    Nearby or far
    Look at the Star
    Feel It
    Make memories
    Be inspired
    The Christmas Heart Spirit…

      1. They didn’t say you had to stop at 15 just that there were a maximum of 15 points. Just let your imagination go! We’ve all benefitted!

    1. Ok, I’ve figured out how to edit and make revisions, to shorten the poem, if you can, could you please delete my original on here and here is the Revised poem instead:

      1. Hi Jacki, how did you guys get the formatting right so that it doesn’t show as one complete block of text. I want it like a poem if possible, likes yours and others. Thanks for any help.

      2. Sometimes if you already do it up in tge style I have in a document format or using Word or Notebook app, copy and then paste where you wish to paste or if using Notebook type app if it allows you to copy , or click on ” Send” if 6sing Notebook App , it should copy for you and tgen just paste, I hope these tips will be of help and for future reference .

      3. I’m sorry Lynn, that it didn’t quite work out as you had hoped …I don’t use Word much, I only have Andriod tablet/phone and an ancient Netbook…I ususally use my Notebook App or jyst write my poetry right off tge top off my head, try to remember to Save/Copy and tgen email myself a copy.

  39. A Christmas limerick.

In Lapland lived a beardy old guy
Who argued that money can buy
    A lot of nice things
    Like diamonds and rings
But only love can make you get high

  40. Christmas Memories from the Past

Imagine being 4 and having a snowball to throw
Except this snowball has a lit firecracker
As you throw it, it goes off then watch all eyes grow
The anticipation of Christmas grows when you are small
But you put up a rope In The hall
To keep the little one from getting up to early t
But the little one runs up the hall and hits the rope like the brick wall
You travel 6 hours to see family for Christmas and the roads are slick
Christmas day comes and everyone is sick
    Here comes the winter weather
And everyone is stuck for 3 weeks together
The kids are having a ball
While the parents look like they’ve hit a wall
It snows on Christmas Day for the first time ever
And you aand your kid are so happy
You are asked to come in and you both yell Never!!

  41. Oh dear, I’m no poet! Here are some lines I jotted down over my morning coffee. As I said, I’m no poet! Thank you for the PDF – a beautiful keepsake!

  42. My first effort is a haiku, so three lines not fifteen:

    Christmas approaches
    It’s no time for reproaches
    A difficult year
