  1. After retirement, I have been spending time planning my class’s 50th reunion. Spread over two years, the planning is no task, it’s rather enjoyable. And so is listening to you two. šŸ™‚

  2. Greetings. I enjoy grabbing a sketch pad and pencil or pen and just letting my imagination go and see what comes out. I’m not a morning person either so I can relate.

  3. Hiya… greetings from darkest zummerzet, just a few hours drive from Liverpool. Since retiring at the end of last year, and partly inspired by MLT, I have taken up the guitar for the first time as an instrument, and my accoustic and classical guitar have been joined in the last couple of days with a new baby… a Kentucky archtop mandolin… which should keep me occupied over the winter months whilst the garden is a bit out of bounds. The grass in the garden may be green, but the grass in the house is mostly blue!

  4. My hobbies are microcontroller pojects (mostly programming, a little bit of electronics), computer programming in general, TIG welding, watching youtube. The last one is pretty important … how else would I have found you?! šŸ™‚

  5. Playing music is my passion, and way to destress. Grabbing a guitar and playing, makes me happy.
Listening to mlt music has the same effect ā˜ŗļø

  6. I like to play guitar and bass with my band. In a few weeks after my retirement I will try to get a bit deeper in music studio software.
    Greetings from Germany!

  7. Well after years of trying, I have started learning playing the guitar again, One day I might be able to play as good as Mona and Lisa but I don’t think so. Happy Christmas day 2

  8. Congrats to the winners!. Is there anything that Mona and Lisa can’t do? I work 7 days on and 7 days off. So every other week I put in 84 hours. I caught the MLT-mania bug during all of this COVID madness. I like to watch documentaries and usually do a lot of outdoor activities and socializing. I also travel ( but not right now). It is such a joy to see my nieces and nephews. After spending so much time with inmates, it makes me appreciate all my loved ones even more. Children are the best antidote. Twice a month I drive 100 miles to Nevada to decompress and play Blackjack (I’m pretty good at it). Next year I want to get an electric bike and learn to play the drums.

  9. I don’t think I can remember the last time I had a busy day! I may have mentioned yesterday, I’m retired. And then there’s this pandemic thing. I also may have mentioned yesterday I’m building a synthesizer, that’s my main hobby at the moment. Yes, I’m repeating myself a lot here. I also walk a lot, bicycle in warmer weather, read books and comics… I’d mention the ukulele but I’d be repeating myself again…

  10. For an activity, I would say bicycling. For a hobby, I would say my current focus is photography; I did quite a bit of black and white photography back in the day – hand developing film and darkroom printing – now I really like the new, easier digital stuff, although it has lost a bit of the old romantic feel to it. I also collect jazz recordings.

Love the advent calendar this year!

    1. Glad to see I’m not the only one. I have incorporated digital but still prefer to do everything in the darkroom.

      1. Yeah, it sure was fun back then, but I guess I’m too lazy now. I have a box full of unused Tri-X film, canisters, trays, and chemicals (expired) that I don’t know that I will ever use again. It was magical seeing the image appear out of nowhere on the print. šŸ™‚

  11. to relax I like to read books and watch documentaries, Music, History and my Favorite Astronomy, and of course The Top of the Popper Most ,The MLT Club .

  12. I have taken up a hobby of studying airplanes from WWII and am building a remote control plane and going to try to learn to fly it! Maybe I need to talk to Papa Rudi for some flying advice!! I totally love the advent calendar simply because its soooooo much fun getting to see you two in a video every day!!! I know its a lot of effort of your part, but just so you know it so appreciated!!!

  13. Hi Mona and Lisa! For me listening to or playing music helps me to unwind. One other hobby I do to unwind is racing on my tablet, Real Racing 3. It helps me chill out. See you tomorrow!

  14. Loved viewing the artistic process! What is the total elapsed time? My unwinding process is to go for a run – 3 – 4 miles works perfectly!

  15. Being retired, just about all I do is unwind. I do enjoy playing my old Ovation guitar and watching reruns of Gunsmoke. I do enjoy your music and videos.

  16. My kids think all I do now, since my recent retirement, is work on hobbies and relax. And they are right. After getting some work done around the house I spend much of my time planning camping trips (actually RV trips) for next year. Also on my “hobby” list for this winter is scanning family photos and editing the hours and hours of family videos from the past 35 years.

  17. Hi everyone.
Congratulations to the lucky winners, thank you Mona and Lisa for making these last days of the year so much fun.
Today they showed us one more of their talents with the elaboration of the lambs, they look great.

My hobby is assembling puzzles, before I bought them, put them together and gave them to friends. Some are still at my parents’ house.
Now I found puzzles on the internet, here in which they were published and I assembled almost all of them I was missing 3 of the last edition.

    Best regards.

  18. If the tide is right, I go down to the harbor in my village and spend a little time enjoying the scenery, then dig a few clams for dinner by the fire pit (with a nice cold beer or cocktail). A perfect evening!

  19. When I want to relax from a busy day… I like to play my guitar, go watch a documentary, go for a walk, or play chess online, or against the computer. watch great music videos.. but,. every busy day or lazy day I watch some MonaLisa Twins videos… it’s already a tradition in my life. but I say again..your dedication to us is wonderful..thank you so much.

  20. These videos are fun. 2.0? That was funny. I feel Mona’s lamb has a good reason to be arrogant. Look at all those colors. But then the all natural white is beautiful, too.

I unwind with music. Lately I watch a lot of Indie musicians on utube. I am trying to find inspiration to play guitar more. I kind of got away from it these past couple of years. Sometimes life gets in the way.

My most relaxing hobby is skiing. It can be very surreal to be at the top of the mountain early in the morning. The view of the Hudson Valley can be quite breathtaking. Then I pop in my earbuds and convince myself I can still ski like when I was eighteen. Spaghetti legs at the end of the day reminds me eighteen was a while ago.

When I was a kid I was into marionettes. I had a stage my Dad and I built in our basement. Nerd alert. I have a few that I made, and I still have a collection of Pelham Puppets. Has anyone heard of them? They were a company in England that made beautiful hand painted marionettes. I am planning on handing them down to my grandchildren. Although, that may not be for a while.

    Congratulations to the first winners!

    Jp

    1. Hi Jp. I am trying to get re-motivated to play guitar again as well, and I, too, let it get away from me for about 2 years. Good luck to us both!

  21. I’m in classes every day, and it feels as though it’s a never-ending series of daily deadlines. Aargh!! I relax by bringing up some old TV shows and sitting with my two dogs.

  22. First, I would like to say that Lisa did a great job of felting Lampibampi, Jr.!
After a busy day I don’t have the energy for a hobby anymore. When I was younger and healthier I enjoyed going for a jog. Now I enjoy TV with my wife, listening to music and/or playing my guitar, or maybe reading.

  23. I drive a truck during the day and when I get home I just want to turn on the tv and relax ..generally end up falling asleep…have to get up at midnight and go deliver newspapers and when I get done delivering I then have time for a 2-hr nap before it all starts over again…so winding down is watching TV and sometimes it’s watching YouTube.

  24. I have a collection of Keys and padlocks. Sorting and cleaning is relaxing for me. when I get more time I will build some display panels. Jigsaw puzzles are another excellent way to unwind.

  25. I have a number of hobbies, Gardening (indoors & outdoors), astronomy, ham radio, playing my baritone uke and my Telecaster, reading (non fiction). A big hello also to Michaela and Rudi by the way!

  26. When I need to unwind, I really enjoy being in the garden. Spring, summer and autumn are the seasons I like best.

I love the sounds of nature – and especially when the birds are whistling. The blackbird is definitely my favorite songbird.

I also like to go to the garden in the winter, so that the body gets a little bit of exercise. In Denmark today and yesterday we got the first snow of this winter. The little child inside me, calls: ā€œLet’s make some snow fun – for the MLT Clubā€.

Here is a picture of a “60’s snowman” trying to charm Mona and Lisa.

  27. Civilization VI (computer game) is my go to for “unwinding”. And then there’s my ukulele. I’ve been playing for over a year now, and I’m going to record a cover of “I Don’t Know Birds That Well” any day now.

  28. To unwind before bed I usually put on the headphones pick an mlt track that is nice and relaxing. 9 times out of ten I wake up with headphones half on half off and bedroom light still on????a quick flick of the switch and throw phones across the bed and straight back to sleep

  29. When I need to unwind I’ll usually play one of my guitars, ukulele or appalachian dulcimer, usually playing songs by ear. I’ve lacked the discipline to ever get especially good at it, but it’s something I love. I could be having the worst day, then I’ll start to play and it never fails to melt all the stress away. Also watching old movies.

  30. We thought when we retired that stress was behind us, but we keep pretty busy and sometimes we manage to manufacture some stress.

Hiking or biking does a great job of “recharging” as you like to call it, but I sometimes don’t get enough of that. We have settled into a nightly routine that helps us unwind.

We start the unwinding process with games and drinks around 4:00 in the afternoon. After dinner the unwind continues with TV, reading, puzzles, and once a week, home made popcorn and a movie on TV. About an hour before I hit the bed, I put the headphones on and listen to music, mostly music from a couple of very talented twins from Austria – that has become a meditation-like time that seems to relax me more than anything else.

  31. I love to go to YouTube and play many of my Rock N Roll favorites which includes several MLT songs. I will on occasion, pull out my bass guitar and play along to the songs I know instrumentally.

  32. Usually I like to play the piano and pick out songs since I play by ear. And then I will let the music take me where it wants to go as I play some original nonsense that comes off my fingers when the mood suits them. Problem is I seldom can remember the original tunes I play the next day so they are One Hit Wanders. If it’s not too hot I will go out and do some gardening and feed the bees that are always in the flower beds with some sugar water. My Grandfather was a beekeeper and had a large honey business but he was too old by the time I came around to have learned anything from him about how to build up and maintain bee colonies and have my own apiaries. We grew up using only honey for cooking and sweetening things. But his supply of honey ran out when I was around 14 years old so we had to finally deal with cane sugar. A poor substitute. We did still buy honey from a friend of my grandpa’s that the kids took over their honey business that kept us in delicious Orange Blossom honey for many more years until they stop doing business.

    1. When I was younger, my grandparents did some bee-keeping too (we always had to put on shoes in their garden…). Until today, honey must taste like this one for me!

  33. I enjoy cycling road and mountain biking, it helps me to unwind. I love to take long walks where I can listen to mona and Lisa of course and photograph wildlife and beautiful scenery.

  34. Those little things are so cute. I didn’t catch the name of Mona’s, but I would name it Joseph (the coat of many colors – American spelling). I will be retiring next year, but can no longer do my lifelong hobbies because of physical limitations. So believe it or not I decided to learn to play the guitar. I also listen to music (lately yours). And I get a kick of watching your videos. Stay groovy. Peace be.

  35. Well, it’s obvious I didn’t watch the video before I posted my earlier comment. THRILLED to win a CD, and congrats Jacki and Dan, and best of luck everyone from here on out! I must offer a big THANKS to Michaela for making the Advent Calendar Mona and Lisa are opening possible! She’s graciously doing all the work, since I’m 6 time zones and an ocean away!

    1. What a neat idea Jeffery! And thanks for your supportive words, it’s just that kind of think I was referring to in my post! Have a great season!

  36. Listen to some music on the drive home from work in the morning. Then later its more music as I go about my day.A good book,a crossword puzzle, more music(mostly Beatles,MonaLisa Twins(of course!), plus an assortment of other artists, cook a nice meal, some days chill with my beautiful nieces Caitlin & Erin.Spending time with family and friends is always a great way to unwind from all the outside stress.
And checking in on my favorite Duo,by logging into the MLT Clubhouse.

  37. My hobby is building model kits. Figure kits are what I look for. This started for me in the early sixties when Aurora Modeling Company started making model kits of the universal studios monsters. Frankenstein, Dracula, Wolfman and many more. I still have them and this hobby never left me, and I still enjoy it !

    1. Gary, I remember those well, my brother and I used to build them when we were kids. I loved the box art with those amazing paintings by James Bama.

      1. Yes Paul, those James Bama box art sold those kits. What kid could resist them! I’m glad that you and your brother got the chance to build them! They were a big part of me and my brothers childhood!

  38. Listening to music is my way of relaxing… I often just go on Youtube and start looking for new artists that I haven’t heard before… which is exactly how I discovered Mona & Lisa!

  39. I sit in a darkened room and contemplate the cosmos and the abyss….

Just kidding! Normally, I jump into some YouTube rabbit hole (as long as it doesn’t raise my blood pressure too much) and almost always end up enjoying an MLT playlist!

  40. On my way home from work each day I play one of your CD albums and believe me it helps me un wind from a stressful day at the job. I sing along and almost at times can sing along with Mona but then other days? LOL….Lisa? Well lets say I use my falsetto voice…LOL AND When I pick up Maddie we sing Two of Us and Wide Wide land, again what a great way to end a day on the job! Don’t get any better than that.
    BILL AND MADDIE ISENBERG

  41. Beautiful creations, ladies!
Odd question, this. Since High school, I would read, write, listen to records, and sketch. I did a lot of that, and got into local drama groups, doing several musicals locally and in San Diego, CA. After I retired, I spent time doing a lot of those things, but got bored, so I took a part-time job working the graveyard shift at a truck station nearby. When boredom stresses me out, my job relaxed me. When my job stresses me out, there is still music.

  42. The end of the day is to come home and go on to the MLT to catch up, then listen to who? Mona and Lisa!!!!! Congrats to the winners!!! Stay Groovy!!!

  43. Now this is the type of prize I hope to win!!!
I do many things to relax. My go to’s are reading, walking, going for drives with the music playing loud, and rehabilitating cuckoo clocks. I also enjoy wood crafts , photography, bicycling, and visiting antique stores and second hand stores with my wife.
Other than your Christmas CD, I cannot calm down listening to your music. It gets me pumped up! For the last 3 months, I spend at least an hour a day in the Clubhouse.

  44. I forgot to add reading books of interest to me as I’m not an avid reader , of course listening to music, singing (kareoke & open mic jams once in awhile ), dancing to what I’m listening to , doing lip syncing singing/dancing funny videos to entertain , uplift people on my instagram/tiktok …. to make people smile is my mission , really through doing stuff that I enjoy doing ☮????

  45. Whenever I’m in need of relaxation,
I grab one of my guitars and play along with early Beatles RedAlbum(1962-1965 I think).
Being able to play along with the boys and have them save me when I mess up is pure joyous.

  46. I really enjoy playing my Martin acoustic guitar every day. Play mostly Beatles & I find that very enjoyable( who wouldn’t). Music certainly makes the world go round & then the twins put an extra spin on it!!!

  47. Congratulations, day one winners! I loved your felted lambs, Mona and Lisa. Mona’s is my daughter, Meriel’s, favourite one! I also find felting very relaxing – something about the repetitive stabbing with the needle releases pent-up aggression! Of course, listening to your music is one of the very best ways to unwind. I also enjoy taking long walks in nature. Here is a photo of a couple of 2 of my first felted projects, both gifts for y daughter.

  48. My relaxation activity is musical theatre, both appearing in it and watching it. The last couple of years has made it very difficult though.

  49. Hi Mona and Lisa, Allan here from frosty Scotland. Love your music and how great it is to hear lyrics so clearly sung when you perform the songs I’ve been listening to for years! Can’t believe you are even picking up new talents with your extra cute lambs! I may have just joined the club but you really are very welcoming and keep us all entertained.

  50. There are so many beautiful hobbies and unfortunately far too little time for them. Here are a few of my favourite activities: Travelling, aquaristics, filming, photography, digging in the garden, cycling, model railways. Yes, I am one of those grown-up people who collect small locomotives and of course let them run. Actually a very creative hobby: recreating whole landscapes, working with paints and plaster, modelling with various materials etc. (My parents got me hooked as a child and I can’t get away from it. Too many wonderful memories. At Christmas, a railway layout was always built right next to the Christmas tree. My older sister was also a railway enthusiast up to a certain age. We have kept the old locomotives and wagons until today.)

    1. I plan to build a model railway when I retire! I’m not sure whether to just make up a layout or to model an actual station or junction. A temporary one at Christmas seems a wonderful idea and sounds like a plan for next year! The planning over the previous few months would be just as much fun as using it.

Any chance of you posting photos of your layout?

      1. Hi Philip great to hear from you. You’ve got yourself a nice project for your retirement. I’ll be happy to send you the latest track designs from my layout in the next few days, if you want it. Unfortunately, I don’t have any photos of a finished layout at the moment, as I’ve moved around a lot in the last few years and always started from scratch.

      2. Thanks Jurgen. I was born in Bournemouth and spent many happy hours with my dad on various local stations. My instinct is to model the long closed (1965) Bournemouth West station. It was a 6 platform terminus so possibly a rather ambitious start. A simple self designed affair would be better!

My dad had a model railway but when he died (I was only 6) no one could figure out his wiring to make repairs when required so it fell into disuse. He had been an electrician in the Fleet Air Arm (the Royal Navy’s air wing, aircraft carriers etc) so possibly used methods more akin to keeping aircraft in the air!

    2. I remember one of my fondest Christmas moments was finding a model train set under the Christmas tree. Well it wasn’t a surprise since I talked about it all year and my parents got the hint. I set the train track around the tree Christmas morning, and then later converted our ping pong table to a little village with the model train track through it. A good friend of mine had an impressive train set/town in his bedroom that fascinated me. I could get back into that!

      1. Those are the wonderful moments and memories I was talking about. It is beautiful and important when the little child you once were is still alive and active in your heart. So go ahead: make your dreams come true. The whole world in a nut shell.

  51. My favorite hobby to relax with is reading on my Kindle. Right now I’m reading Lucinda Riley’s 7 books about The Seven Sisters – recomendable – reading book 4 right now.

  52. I unwind by aimlessly driving around town listening to my favorite music. Works every time! I crank up MLT to send some well deserved free publicity their way

  53. Oh you two are challenging me because I’m not good at giving myself permission to do things to unwind. I’m sure that my son Jordan is delighted that you are asking the question because he asks me without fail, “Have you picked up a guitar today?” So that’s my answer: picking up a guitar brings me joy and definitely helps me to unwind. Mona and Lisa – with your encouragement (and of course Jordan fussing at me) I will do better at unwinding, with a guitar of course.

  54. I love to put my feet up and chill out reading a book, not often I have the time, but definitely my favourite way to totally relax and switch off from the world around me.

  55. I’m kind freaked out. Before you drew the 3rd name I thought to myself…”it’s going to be Jacki” and then…way too creepy. You both crack me up. Mona’s reaction to “2.0” – “Really?!?” ROFL! And calling her lamb “arrogant.” OMG just had me in stitches. I often take unintended naps while working at the computer – and wake up with QWERTY imprinted on my face. šŸ˜€
Most of my hobbies aren’t exactly relaxing. Reading and listening to music is. But writing and trying to make music, not so much. The photography can be when I’m in the darkroom. Actually I find that part very relaxing. But taking the photos to begin with is usually a lot of work.
So many fascinating hobbies here! Football helmets! Fountain pens! Building motorized bicycles! Craziness! LOL.
I love this place! You all rock.

  56. Another fun video to brighten a dreary ???????? day! Congrats to the 3 winners and good luck today.
To unwind I do an hour on the treadmill listening to some groovy tunes, helps me unwind and keeps me fit ????Have a good day all #GrooviusMaximus

  57. Congrats to the winners today! You know who you are. Very well deserved.

Mona, Lisa Wow! Those lambs are super cute and cuddly! Kudos Lisa for showing us how it’s done, your artistic skills knows no bounds! Lamp Bampi 2.0 looks lovable, and Mona yours look so cute outfitted in a rainbow coat!

While one of my passions are my fountain pens (50+ so far) and journaling, a recent new hobby is DIY with Swiss Army Knives like good ole MacGyver. Living near a lot of nature with rivers and trails and bears and racoons it felt kind of fitting to try learning some bush craft survival skills in the woods. I joined a Swiss Army Knife forum (yes there is a forum for that!) recently and participated in a month challenge posting photos of all the different ways I use a particular Swiss Army knife each day for a month in October. Here are few just to give you an idea.

Mona and Lisa, you both ROCK!

  58. I like to go for walks in my neighbourhood, watch TV or do some yoga. I happened to take a small yoga class just before the start of the pandemic, so that new hobby has come in really handy…
I love to listen to and make music too, which lifts up my spirits and gives me more energy. And I’d love to learn how to crochet, knit and sew someday!

  59. My main hobbies are in no particular order of preference, writing books about UFOs and the unexplained, building motorized bicycles and trying to play guitar!

  60. Seasons Greetings to one and all.

Like everyone here one of the things that I do to unwind is to listen to music: MLT (naturally), 50s 60s and 70s rock/pop, trad jazz and some classical. I also listen to classic british comedy on YouTube, in particular ‘I’m Sorry I Haven’t a Clue’. If you are looking for quintessential british nonsense humour give this a try.

For a true day (or longer) of unwinding I just go on a train journey or journeys. My dad was a railway enthusiast and when I’m on the rails it feels that I’m with him (it is also better than being off the rails!)

I also go and watch the football (AFC Bournemouth) and cricket (Hampshire CCC) teams that I support, although a tight tense match isn’t necessarily relaxing. I used to play sport to unwind but apart from golf I have retired from that.

I also like doing pub quizzes with a group of friends.

Finally I write children’s books, short stories really, although this is dormant at the moment.

ps I empathise with the ‘not morning people’ quote from the twins plus I said in stereo with Lisa ‘that is only fair’ when Jeffery was pulled out of the owl.

  61. Hello Ladies,
Wow what a cool process. As busy as you two are, how do you find time to do felting?
Congratulations to the winners from Day1
Jeffrey, love the Advent Calendar you sent Mona and Lisa! Really nice.

I like to make/restore football helmets (American football) and make them into teams from all over the country. I paint them if needed like the burgundy one, or the red one, and put the decals where they belong (I order decals) Most of the time I sell them. Once in a while I give them as gifts. Each process takes about 2 weeks.
The helmets are usually white to start with. I strip them down to just the shell and clean them then paint the ones that get painted.
They are really nice collectors items for fans. I have alot of fun.

Thanks Ladies for being able to talk and show off a bit of what I like to do.
Best to all of you during this Christmas season
    Rick

    1. Way cool hobby, Rick! And thanks for the props. The calendar idea came upon me quite randomly and Michaela was a HUGE help in making it happen! Good luck in the rest of the drawings, and Merry Christmas!

  62. Well, that was a nice surprise, Thankyou ????made my rainyday Thursday sunshine, …I love the Felt Lambs ???? … Wooly and Whackers, that’s my pet names for each …

  63. Well, obviously listening to music has always been a passion of mine. One hobby I have been enjoying since I retired is woodworking. I made my daughter a dresser last spring, haven’t decided on the next project yet.

  64. Either something physical (golf, pickleball or whatever) to get rid of excess energy or if I’m already bereft of energy just listen to music or watch tv. I’m usually pretty good at turning my brain off (what there is of it).

  65. First off, I don’t know how you find time for any hobbies outside of your music, but I’m glad you do, because I believe it’s healthy and regenerative! Away from MLT-related activities, I enjoy attending (when possible, due to current virus conditions) sporting events at my local junior college. Basketball season is on now, and even my Christmas tree supports the teams. Nice coincidence their main color is orange! I’ve also taken up collecting vintage vinyl records this past year after buying a cheap turntable on a whim. The lambs are adorable, and any prize crafted by either of you would be the ultimate jackpot!

    1. You are so right about finding time to relax due to the health and psychological benefits, it lets you be you. One of my mother’s adages was ‘you can always find time to do what you want to do’. She always encouraged us to do so as well.

  66. It’s kind of obvious to say listen to music, my favourite way to unwind is to play along to some music, be it a new bass line or just running a soli on a guitar, it focuses my brain enough to forget the days stresses and occasionally I come up with something which sounds good!

  67. Write poetry, draw, paint, baking, be crafty,(except in area of knitting, crocheting, etc, not able to do that) but using felt, cloth scraps, and any other materials, I love conjuring up stuff ….whatever idea I have in my head, I try my best to make it so…????????

    1. In some ways I wish that I was more arty. I have always enjoyed observing a great performance and admired what others have created but long ago accepted that I had little talent in doing so myself. I suppose my writing does qualify as art.

I hope that you will enjoy your signed and personalised CD.

  68. I love to knit and I always have my yarn and needles with me. I’m currently into knitting hats for Christmas presents and I knit Christmas ornaments every year.
