Day 11 – Original Music Set

Join us with a cup of tea or coffee and let’s ring in the weekend!

It’s grey and wet today but we will use the afternoon to drive around (either in our car, or using the virtual Google “street view” ????) and look for a suitable location to film parts of our next music video at. Then all we have to do is wait for a dry and potentially even sunny day to go out there and film it!

Original music has been much more in the forefront of our minds these last few months as we are continuing our work on the new original album of which we have already shared a few songs here at the MLT Club!

It all ties in with today’s Giveaway!

  1. The questions are getting harder, but I have made a careful study of your original song titles. As a result, I am making a wild guess, and the new song is called, ‘I Know These Birds Can Sing’. I hope you had some fine weather for filming the video. ????

  2. My guess is “In-A-Gadda-Da-Birdie”. With a name like that, I will also guess it has at least a 10-minute drum solo!

  3. How about; “blackbird singing in the bright daylight”, or; “I really do know birds quite well”, or; “melody for a beautiful morning”. I gotta say, you two make every morning beautiful! Thank you!
We got our first dusting of snow here in Boise this morning.

  4. It was grey and a little snowy here yesterday. Mona said it was grey and wet there. How about the new title – The sun will come out again

  5. I’m going with “Birds in the Night”. Because of British girls being referred to as birds. I just remember hearing that years ago. I hope that’s not offensive to anyone, as so many things these days are. Like so many of the other comments I too enjoy all your video’s. You must be so busy. Thank you for the fun.

  6. Best magic candle yet! But wouldn’t an inhale have seemed more appropriate? And the tea lost its magic again? Yeesh!
My guess for the song title is “I Think I Might Know Birds a Little Bit Better Than I Used To”. No, too long…….how about ” I Know Birds Better Now”. OOH! How about: “Just Like Bird Doo on a Freshly Washed Car” as a blues number, maybe?

  7. “Stroll down the lane with me while I try and remember a day in September while dreaming of remembering a long-lost image of you”? Naw, probably wouldn’t fit on the label. How about “Owl’ll always love you”?

  8. OMG Mona you almost made me, well, have to put my pants in the wash. What is wrong with it? LMAO.
I’m pretty sure this isn’t the title but I’m with Nigel in thinking that “I know the birds pretty well now” or something like that would be great.
But my guess is…”Just one stone.”

  9. How I love waking up to these videos. The twins are a hoot! There are so many drawings it feels like a free-for-owl! When they come on, I’m owl ears. Hoot have thought December would be so much fun! And fab magic tricks too, it doesn’t seem like they are winging it, they are the new hoo-dinis! Mona and Lisa are real jack-of-owl-trades. Owl always love MLT!
I’m talon you, I’m guessing the song has to do with owls. I hope you’re not scowling at my puns.

To finish it off: What do you get when an owl eats an oyster? – Pearls of Wisdom.
Ok, one more: What is an owl’s favorite song? – Owl Be Home For Christmas.

     ???? ????

  10. I’m going with “When Nature Calls”, and the best of luck with the new video. I’m already excited to hear the new music and see the video.

  11. Love the new cold opens for the calendar videos! You ladies just keep coming up with new and delightfully silly stuff. The candle trick was seemless and amazing. When do you sleep?

  12. So … not “Blackbird,” not “Bye, Bye, Blackbird,” not “Free Bird,” not “Faded Love,” not “I Don’t Know Birds That Well,” so …

    DARK BLACK NIGHT

  13. Love the video and once again congrats to the winners ????
How about “Good Morning Songbird” as the new title? #GrooviusMaximus

  14. “Morning has broken” in the most wonderful of ways here today – how exciting to have my name drawn!!! Thank you for such a beautiful gift! (By the way, Morning has Broken is the first song I ever heard you sing and it caused me to become a forever fan.)
What a challenging question today! How about “A New Dawn” or “Flying Free”? I can hardly wait to hear the right answer.

  15. Hi Mona & Lisa, I think the new song title is called, “I do know birds quite well” (after studying and feeding all the pigeons every morning! LOL….

  16. Hi Mona & Lisa!
“the song of sunny birds” or “sunny song of birds”
may be – “song of dry day” or “bird’s song of dry day”
anyway this song will be wonderful!

  17. Hi Mona & Lisa, you can brighten up anyone’s day. My guess for the new song is “Bird On A Wire.” My visual is a bird sitting on a wire outside you window singing.

My original thought was “Thanking Michaela,” I don’t know why I kind of jumped the gun before I got the Hint. However, I think that would make a pretty cool song, and you would have a lot to work with.

    Love and Hugs

  18. I agree with Jung,I am enjoying my mornings with you Lovely Ladies.Just seeing your smiling faces everyday is making the Holiday season all the more Merry and Bright.
My guess for the title is Birds of a Feather.

    Love and Hugs to All????????

  19. I couldn’t help but smile and laugh first thing in the morning! Love your Advent videos every morning, they are good for my soul! Mona’s remark, “why is it (the morning) broken, what is wrong with it…” cracked me up. My question is what will Lisa do with the 10 pounds? ????

One of my favourite Japanese Green Teas are Genmaicha:
“Genmaicha is a Japanese brown rice green tea consisting of green tea mixed with roasted popped brown rice.” I think your description of popcorn in hot water sprinkled with leaves is an accurate description.

Well I’ll take a stab at the title of the next original song. It sounds like “Morning Bird” or “Morning Sparrow”, or “Morning Dove”…Sorry more than one guess I know. What can I say, I don’t know birds that well. ???? Best of luck with your video site search, Mona and Lisa, my two absolute favourite musicians!

By the way I had to add this little piece of trivia. Did you know Canadian Geese live in the UK? Canadians are everywhere! I am certain the audio clip were not geese. ????
“The Canada goose is our most familiar goose, although it is not actually native to the UK. A common and bold bird, it can be found around most parks, lakes, reservoirs and gravel pits.”

    1. Yes, Jung, they’re everywhere here too. Even in the pond of the neighbouring park. I mean the geese, not the Canadians…

      1. Hi Jurgen. It seems those geese get around. I wondered where they all headed when they leave together in big flocks in the fall. It’s amazing they return back to the same lakes here.

      2. Thanks Jung. Very nice photo. That could also be a park near me. Exactly like that. Instead of the large conifers left in the background, there might be beech or chestnut trees. Our firs won’t be quite as big, but otherwise it fits.

PS: unfortunately I don’t have any pictures of geese at the moment, but I would like to show you a regional speciality. After many years, sheep breeders have succeeded in breeding a very special breed of sheep. The animals have coloured fur and the wool does not have to be dyed later. At the moment they are also experimenting with yellow, red and green sheep. And then we have trained meerkats working in our coal mines. As cheap labour, they are increasingly replacing the classic miner. But I honestly don’t know why they are also blue.

    2. Oh yes there are Canadian geese all over the UK. At times they are right pests, especially on golf courses and other sports fields. The not so little presents that they leave aren’t particularly pleasant when you have another 150 metres still to go to the green! Even worse when you have to clear a path on the green for your putt.

      1. Yes they can be a nuisance, and they do make quite the mess at the parks. In Canada though they are still treated with a lot of respect. It’s not uncommon to see a family of geese that decides to cross a major roadway stopping multiple lanes of traffic on both sides. They can fly, but they decided stubbornly they are going to walk across the road. The motorists all stop and give the geese lots of room to cross safely. They are an aerodynamic wonder, natures perfect design for flight, just made to fly long distances with ease and grace, and hence found all over the world. Maybe another song title guess, “Free As A Bird“. Canadian Geese certainly are free to go wherever they like.

      2. Hello Jung,

Here in the UK it is only swans that are given such reverence. This is probably due to the act that they can be rather feisty, on a golf course that I used to be a member of you are given a free drop if your ball ends up near the nesting pair that annually chose one of the ponds on the 7th. In the air and on the water they are majestic but on land a bit cumbersome whilst take off is a difficult lengthy affair.

      3. Hi Philip, the Swans get much reverence here too. In the heart of the city here, there is a man made lagoon, and two majestic white swans live in it, and they sometime appear in the local news! The conservation officers keep a close eye on them that no one disturbs their nest. They are usually surrounded by the Canadian Geese.

  20. This one is really tough as there are endless possibilities. Im going to go with “Wonderland Serenade” When we finally know the answer, these guesses will probably look soooo silly! LOL

  21. I like puzzles. I am pretty good at some types of puzzles and not very good at some others. Sound interpretation puzzles usually give me trouble as does today’s question. I will guess “Daybreak”.

  22. “The Chipmunks On Helium”. It won out over “Pterodactyl Babies”.
It’s time for me to go take my meds now. See you tomorrow.

  23. Great Challenge Ladies! My guess is Two in Harmony and Maddie’s guess is Birds together. Oh well this is fun and so cool each day to see these video’s and share a moment with you both. Can’t wait till tomorrow
    Bill and Maddie Isenberg

  24. Hello Ladies,
What a fun and interesting challenge today.. All wrong answers unless one already knows the answer to your question ????
Sounds Of The Night is my guess (though I think that title was used in Phantom Of The Opera Musical)
Maybe Blackbirds Sing, or perhaps Birds Of The Evening, Or Two Songstress Of The Night, or The Enchantress Of The Evening, or “Shut Up Bird I’m Trying To Sleep” ????????????
Hahahaha that was fun. I could go on forever. The Last Title “Shut Up Bird I’m Trying To Sleep” is my favorite ????????????????
    Have A Great Day.
    Rick
PS when is our new Christmas song coming?

  25. Pozdravljeni vsem in vesel božič.

My immediate thought for the album title, after hearing your clue, was ‘Birds of Song’ but it is a bit corny and demeaning. The clue sounds like bird song and to continue on an orange theme and as a robin redbreast actually has an orange breast how about ‘Robin’s Song’.

For a bit of fun I’m starting each of my posts with a greeting in the language of some of my favourite countries that I have visited. Yesterday was portuguese and thank you to Jurgen for his response in that language. Anyone wanting to join in please send a short reply in the language of the day. I use an online translator as I only speak french (mais seulement un peu) as a second language although I taught myself to read banking spanish when I worked for Barclays.

Finally today is the 55th anniversary of my dad’s death (I was 6). In past years I have suffered from emotional issues in the lead up to the day. Sadly last year was bad and I am still dismayed about an email and a post that I made on the MLT site due to this turmoil. Sorry. This year I am far more sanguine and only have a slight feeling of dullness today. Part of the reason for this has to be the private messages that I have shared with Jurgen Bereit about our mutual hobby of railways. My interest is down to my dad and conversing with Jurgen has helped me feel the joy of my dad as opposed to the sadness of his death. Thank you Jurgen and I really hope that you win one of the MLT prizes. Also I tested positive for covid back on 10th November. Whilst I only had moderate cold like symptoms it is the longer term side effects that are worse like fatigue and character and emotional change. There is, however, also a plus regards my dad as I’m sure that it has helped with my emotions although it is hard to explain. Has anyone else here had covid and has stories to tell about the side effects. I realise that some people will not want to be reminded of their illness.

    1. Pozdravljeni Philip, tudi jaz vam želim vesel božič! Zelo lepa ideja!
… and my sympathy. I think Christmas is a hard time for more people here than you might think. You are not alone with your feelings.

    1. I now have a conspiracy theory that Mona and Lisa can’t actually decide what to call the new album so they are looking to us for inspiration!!! I also feel, like others on here, that we will greatly miss our daily messages from them once advent is over.

  26. Well you have a thing with birds going back to “I Don’t Know Birds That Well” from your WHEN WE’RE TOGETHER cd….hhhhmmm..”Let’s Hhuuumm Together Mr. Humming Bird”…how about that for a title ?!….Mona you just lost 10 pounds…now in America “pounds “ refers to “weight” and millions of women would love to shout out “I just lost 10 pounds”….LOL..just to show you the difference in a word from one country to another…that leads me to today’s give away of a DVD….I don’t know the exact difference but DVD Players made in America are not compatible with DVDs made in Europe ….I only know this because I bought a DVD of the Seekers 25th reunion concert in Australia and it wouldn’t play on my American made DVD Player….now maybe technology has caught up and made it compatible….I love what you girls do❤️????

  27. Maybe:
“Kommt ein Vogel geflogen” or “Alle Vögel sind schon da” or “The three ??? and the mystery of the unknown song” or “Quentin the chirpy question mark” ? I give up!
