The Full Story:

Once upon a time there lived a Troll in an icy cave. He had a long beard and even longer tail. His name was Herbert and he loved to eat roasted carrots because, unlike other trolls, he was a vegatarian.

Herbert had a cat named Howard, who was not a vegetarian. He loved to make fun of other trolls Howard the cat was constantly leaving mouse carcasses all over the cave. But everyone knows trolls aren’t to be trifled with and the troll had a plan for Howard the cat.

He took the cat to a nearby bridge to wait for someone to pass by. Howard was getting a little suspicious and wondered what the troll was up to. As they waited, Howard shredded the troll’s pant leg out of boredom. All of a sudden, He just happened to run into his carnivore cousin Cornelius. He said that Howard needs some tough love, but please don’t eat him. And to help the cause Howard started singing to help so he would not be eaten and had the baby eyes.

It didn’t take long for Howard to realize that cats can’t sing and he could be dinner very soon. Hearing Howard’s beautiful voice, three nearby cats came to the bridge to add their harmonies. Fearing he might be eaten at any moment Howard ran down the street screaming … To Herbert’s dismay, this was the time the Troll King (who hates cats) made his appearance on the bridge. Luckily, Howard made his escape whilst the troll King ate the other three cats.

Unfortunately, his greed in eating all three wasn’t wise as it gave the Troll King a pain in his stomach. And that made the troll king angry at Herbert for being a vegetarian and not helping him eat three cats. So the Troll King banished Herbert to a faraway land. Howard, missing his owner, went looking for him, but in the new land Herbert became Troll King and was very happy. Herbert said to himself, “If I only had a beautiful Troll Queen.”

With that, he set off into the enchanted forest to find a Troll Queen and maybe some delicious mushrooms. He soon found the mushrooms but where could the Troll Queen be? That is when he found himself in the kingdom of cats. The leader, Clarence a black Maincoon, put him on trial for his king eating cats.

He was appointed a beautiful public defender named Monisa. She had long blond hair that she wore up in a ponytail. She was descendant of ancient kings. Where there’s a king there is hopefully a red haired princess. Although a troll herself, Monisa had worked hard to overcome the barriers of cat society, and had graduated law school with the aid of a mentor named Howard. “What a strange coincidence,” thought Herbert. “I have a cat named Howard….”

Meanwhile, Monisa, seeing that the king was hunting for a red headed princess, rushed off to color her hair so she could become the Troll Queen before she could be distracted by Howard the cat … Aha, the plot thickens, exclaimed Howard! However, she used the wrong hair color, now she is blond. Now rumour has it blondes have more fun but as we know that is not always the case … “What shall I do now?” she exclaimed, while having more fun because she was now blonde. “I’ll get a sandwich for lunch since I am rather famished,” she concluded. Because she was a pretty nice girl – with a touch of insanity … And then she said: I’m gonna sit right down and write myself a letter…

In the letter Monisha wrote to Leeza in a land far, far away to come to her aid with more cats and musical instruments so they can sing. Leeza brought a cat named Sebastian who played the blues harp. Sebastian learned the blues harp from his mentor, a cat named Darby. Sebastian’s blues harp arrived with The Letter in a Boxtop.

Sebastian opened the box to read a handwritten letter, and show Mona the six-fingered blues harp he learned to play. Mona snatched the blues harp away and started to play. The letter said, “All are welcome”. Sebastian played a few songs about birds on the six-fingered blues harp, then they drank some Jasmine tea. The tea tasted a bit off, and everyone looked at Mona, but Mona said, “It wasn’t me! It was the 6-toed cat!” Mona needs to teach the cat how to make tea. It tasted funny because it had been treated with iocaine powder…inconceivable!

The cat just purred and looked up at Mona much to say its not my fault and taste fine to me and drank the lot. But something must have been done to it, as the cat grew to the size of a bear after finishing the cup. Shortly thereafter the cat fell asleep on Mona, and Mona couldn’t get the bear of a cat off her … So Mona called Lisa, Michaela and papa Wagner for help but they didn’t bother to help, instead they laughed. “Oh Mona”, laughed Lisa, “Your situation seems unbearable”. Sebastian snored loudly as he slept with six terrifying claws in each paw. Good thing “mega cat” has 9 lives because his snoring is going to bring him down to 8 very shortly.

Michaela revealed her secret talents as an all powerful wizard and turned the cat/bear into a fluffy teddy bear; Mona was safe. As Mona crawled from beneath overgrown teddy bear, a single tear ran down Lisa’s cheek as she realized the cat was no longer alive. “Don’t be fooled by the cute fluffy bear”, said Mona.” Ok”, Lisa replied, “let’s write a tribute song to the cat then”. As Mona and Lisa sat there drinking Jasmine tea, waiting for inspiration, it started to snow outside. That cat was quite unhappy as a cat anyway, being a big fluffy bear likely helped his mood. The bear thought to himself I need a friend. The big fluffy bear of a cat leapt onto Mona’s lap, spilling Jasmine tea all over both of them, startling Lisa out of her snowflake reverie.

The fresh layer of snow made everything so fresh and clean, it gave Papa Rudy a great idea for the song, which he shared with Mona and Lisa. Papa Rudy realized that the poor bear wasn’t evil, he was just lonely and wanted to have friends … so he told Mona and Lisa that they should write a song for the bear. They both picked up their guitars and cleared their throats and started strumming their guitars and thought why not start with a C chord for cat and B chord for bear … Hmmm … Lisa said. I actually like Papa Rudy’s first idea. Let’s send a smiley message of love – to the whole world. White and pure. Then Lisa, clever as always, hurried out and made a snowy smiley.

To get in the mood Mona and Lisa took their instruments into the garden room around the roaring fire to have their tea. The bear wanted to know where its tea was. Being a very impatient bear, rather than wait for its tea, it decided to get really comfy and take a nap, to dream of … very large sugar plums.

The ladies heard their next-door neighbors, so they called out to them by saying “Merry Christmas – stay groovy!”. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. Who dares to disturb me from my slumbers! The person at the door says I come with gifts of Mona and Lisa albums. And to my surprise was a handwritten letter from the twins (Zwillinge) addressed to me? How could this possibly be? And it wasn’t just a simple letter, but the lyrics to their latest song! But there was no mention of cats, bears or trolls in the song. Only birds seemed to participate in this tune … I don’t know birds that well, but I was sure their harmony couldn’t be that tight.

As Lisa, Michaela, and papa Wagner were removing the bear cat from Mona it suddenly sneezed three quick times and returned to normal. And the birds sang and doorbells rang in answer. The bells to the cavernous club chimed melodiously in reply while the sweet refrain of two young girls echoed and took flight into a suddenly starless night.

But wait, why would the doorbells ring at this time of the day?! It turns out today is a very special day and a very special hour. Yes, it is 15:59 UTC (15:59 p.m. in Liverpool) on December 21 — the first minute of winter! It was the dept. of animal control from the kingdom of cats at the door coming to arrest the magic cat for turning into a bear. But the cat happened to come from Cheshire and managed to hide itself in a special way.

The authorities were about to arrest the two cats with three fingers each, playing blues on their electric guitars loudly on a Cheshire rooftop, but suddenly realized it was Week 3 Christmastime. They realized it would probably be a very special hour to ask to borrow cup of sugar from a neighbor. And the cat said, “Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night”. Which was very strange because it was now the middle of the afternoon, and the cats were French speaking cats.

In the meantime, Herbert the troll thought: “This is all very well, but what about me?!

When, after dyeing her hair just the right shade of red, Monisa hastened over to discuss Herbert’s court case, nature took it’s course, they got Herbert exonerated, Howard finally found them, and they lived happily ever after!

  1. Im even later but definitely All My Loving! Seeing how John came up with playing 3’s and George incorporating a Chet Atkins solo after meeting him. The song turned out to be a classic for sure.

  2. I know I’m too late but I would like to have seen the making of I’m down one of the Beatles best rockers. In their Get back documentary they are falling apart as The bossy one, the mobbed one, the one just there and the ignorant person – and it’s actually a sad story for Beatles fans like me – but watch it yourselves

  3. For me, it would have to be Bowie’s “Blackstar” album. Obviously, he was aware of his fate. I can’t even imagine the thoughts that were running through his mind.

  4. I had a blast watching both of during the story. You are both hilarious!!

    I’m going to pick 3.

1700’s See Vivaldi compose ‘The Four Seasons’

    1970’s Queen ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’

    2000’s Watch MLT street busking

  5. Another hard question. I would like to have seen and heard David Bowie writing ‘Life on Mars’. It would be good to know what inspired the creative process on many of his songs, but I think that one is especially powerful.

  6. I’d loved to have watched Paul McCartney compose “Mother Nature’s Son”. A beautiful melody and acoustic guitar accompaniment to boot. It’s a great example of Paul’s gift for writing an unforgettable melody.

  7. I just watched the first episode of the Get Back documentary and was fascinated by the way Paul composed great Beatles songs by playing piano or bass, and improvising various lyrics while his assistant Mal Evans sat near him with a pen and notebook capturing onto paper what Paul was singing. From the mid- to late- years of the group, Lennon/McCartney songs were rarely written by both of them as a duo, although the song-writing credits would lead us to believe so. The song I would like to witness the writing of is A Hard Day’s Night. My understanding is that Richard Lester, the director of the movie, told John and Paul that he needed a title song to play over the opening credits. My understanding is that they came to him the very next day with the song A Hard Day’s Night. The very next day! Now that’s collaborative song-writing I would like to witness!

    1. It was the movie’s producer, Walter Shenson who told the boys they needed to write a song once they had a title for the epic, but yeah, they did write a hit on demand over night. Not many people today could do that.

  8. Just for accuracy the Get Back documentary was by Peter Jackson, not Paul – perfectly understandable Beatleist mistake.
I can’t pick just one. For Mona and Lisa songs I would pick “Once Upon a Time” – the different verses and bridges and chord changes are wonderful. A Beatles song would be I Want To Hold Your Hand – love the rhythm. Historic piece would be Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony. It is amazing to watch genius at work in the Get Back sessions. Paul composes Grt Back while playing chords on his bass – astounding.

Fabulous job reading and making the story so fun to listen to!

  9. “Please Please Me” with the Beatles, would for sure be the song, I first of all, would like to witness the writing process of, as that was their first big hit, the kickstart of the Beatles.

  10. I’ve always been amazed at the agony displayed in She’s Leaving Home by the Beatles and often wondered how such young men could understand both the dispirited feelings of the daughter and the emptiness and betrayal felt by her parents simultaneously. The contrast of the beautiful narrative sung by Paul offset by John singing the role of the parents struck me as hauntingly beautiful even as a 13 year old 8th grader when Sgt. Pepper’s was released. I know the song is supposedly based on a story that Paul had read but it captures the heartache of the parents so painfully while the daughter is set free. If not the Beatles, then Don Felder’s incredible writing of all of the music in Hotel California, coupled with the intriguing lyrics by Henley and Frey.

  11. The Wide ,Wide Land. I think Its a Beautiful song, It would have been cool to witness the video production too.

    1. I agree! I had the privilege of seeing Buffy Sainte-Marie a couple of weeks ago perform live at a very intimate setting in London, Ontario, Canada. 78 years old and just as awesome as ever! There was so much passion and integrity in her performance.

  12. Hey everyone for me it would be 3 songs : Eleanor rigby from the beatles , sir duke from stevie wonder , the kinks supersonic rocket ship

  13. Hello everyone. When Sirius XM first started a Beatles channel, Peter Asher(pardon spl) did a lot of hosting. He played his one man show once. I love human history in music. Was one of my favorite courses I took in college. That’s why I love seeing the early MLT and listen to interviews etc. Shows the progression of your talent. One of the stories was that Peter had a reel to reel on Paul McCartney putting together the idea of World Without Love. Guess he pitched the song and John said it wasn’t for the Beatles. Guess he pitched it a few times. Peter said he knew this would be a hit. He started asking Paul, Paul lived in his parents house back then, what he was going to do with the song. He finally described Paul saying yes, but he needed to finish writing it out and lyrics. Peter says for mere mortals it takes time to write and finish a song. He got to see Paul finish it with all the lyrics in about 30 minutes. I would love to be a fly on the wall to witness that much genius. He did give it to Peter and Gordon and put it under a different name because people were saying if you put a name of a Beatle it would be a hit. It was a hit anyway. The rest is history! May peace be with everyone. Stay safe. Stay Groovy! ❤????

    1. This story may be apocryphal, but I read once somewhere that the Beatles passed on recording World Without Love themselves because John couldn’t stop laughing when Paul sang “please lock me away”.

      1. That’s funny if true. What I paraphrased was from the audio of Peter’s one man show. All from his point of view. I love hearing the personal stories. I was 6 in 1964. Loved to watch the mouse on Ed Sullivan and ended watching on a black and white set all those great acts from the British invasion. Thank you for your comment. ❤????

  14. Another one for Bohemian Rhapsody.
I would have liked to witness not only the writing but the recording. Watching them layer so many vocals would have been mesmerising.

  15. I gotta agree with JP. I adore the lyrics in “Count on Me” and consider it alongside “Still a Friend of Mine” as the acme of written lyricism. I kinda get the impression you’d like a Beatles song to go with today’s theme, so I’ll take “Old Brown Shoe”. I’m a softy for George songs, especially of that era, and I believe John and Paul may have collaborated on that one after George had the majority of it worked out.
As for today’s video: What pure joy to watch and listen as Lisa read and Mona reacted to and even acted out some of our original collaborated mishmash of a modern fairy tale! They both expressed absolute glee when discovering what we’d all written, and the emotion was highly contagious! I’d just returned home from my last Aunt’s funeral when I decided to watch today’s video, and Boy! did it ever obliterate my melancholy mood for the rest of the day! THANK YOU, Twins and clubbers for such a joyous infusion of happiness when I needed it!

  16. I would have loved to be involved with the creation of the song “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The mix of rock and opera must have been so difficult.

  17. If a Beatles song, definately “A Day in the Life”. Otherwise, you can’t get much more creative with words and music/production than “Janitor Joe”. Maybe the artists will treat us to the background story some day!?

  18. I am curious how Stairway to Heaven came to be. The way the song builds up to a climax and then ends so softly always gives me goosebumps.

  19. If the question is for a Beatles’ song, I would choose “Hey Jude”. From all writers probably “Whiter Shade of Pale”.

  20. Definitely “Bohemian Rhapsody”. That song broke the mould for pop music at that time, and the development audacious musical elements would have been an amazing process to witness.

  21. This is tough, but “Come Together” comes to mind. I know each verse is supposed to about one Beatle, but which is which and what do they mean? “I Bought Myself a Politician” would also be interesting.

  22. Some really great answers here, and a couple that would definitely be on my list, like A Day in the Life and Good Vibrations. I loved the movie Love and Mercy, there was a sequence that really illustrated how Brian Wilson could hear music in almost random sounds. Strawberry Fields Forever is probably the song that most fascinates me. You get some idea of how that evolved in a series of tracks on one of the studio outtakes discs in the Sergeant Pepper box set from a few years ago; I’d have loved to have been in the studio watching that take shape. Going back further in time, it would have been amazing to watch Beethoven composing his Ninth Symphony, deaf by then and working from his knowledge of the orchestra and his imagination.

    1. Paul, absolutely I couldn’t agree with you more about Good Vibrations, A Day In The Life, Strawberry Fields Forever, and the 9th Symphony! Well said. ???? ???? ????

  23. I gotta say I love the cat theme. The story flows very smoothly. MLT fans are the best. I know we are all watching this with huge smiles. yvoorg yrev

It must have been kool when Pink Floyd finished “Wish You We’re Here”
I like to think that at some point they knew they had created something special.
I read that when Roger Waters was asked if he minded all the covers of it over the years, he replied that everyone should cover that song.

Who knew that 45 years later these amazingly talented people would fall in love with this song and create true magic with their version of it? Lisa and Mona’s version is my favorite one.

I also would have liked to witness the creation of “Count On Me”. I wonder if it was one of those that wrote itself. The Duo Session is just perfect. ????

    JP

  24. Congrats to the two winners today, Annelies and Keith! A personalized hand written letter with a fountain pen by Mona and Lisa, couldn’t get better than that for a prize! I am envious! ???? ???? Mona and Lisa, you are both the best and so kind with all the wonderful prize giveaways. Always so thoughtful and appreciative of your fans! ???? ???? ❤

    A little fun fact:
“Lots of renowned writers avoid computers when they are first working on a story, and sometimes they avoid them altogether. J.K. Rowling, Neil Gaiman, Joyce Carol Oates, Stephen King, and Danielle Steel are among the super-successful scribes who draft by hand.Apr 14, 2019″

I believe when you handwrite, your thoughts flow to paper more slowly and you have to be more thoughtful, concise, and efficient. More care goes into every word and phrase subconsciously when you handwrite, because you can’t make a mistake, you can’t easily erase entire sentences with such ease like you can on the computer. So the thoughts that flow through hand writing tends to be more thought out, and ultimately tend to be of higher quality. That is why Stephen King writes his first draft of his novels by hand.

    1. I agree, Jung! Personal handwritten messages or original artwork from the lovely ladies would be the ultimate prizes! I understand why you’d lean toward the one created by a fountain pen, tho! Cheers!

      1. Hi Jeffery, yeah Mona and Lisa created artwork are the best too. We are only half way through the Advent, so still plenty of chances! Groovy greetings!

  25. I’m a massive George fan and would love to see the thought process and construction of “ guitar gently weeps” also Apple scruffs.

  26. There are a lot of songs I would like to see the thought process of but to say just 1 song I think it would have to be “Yesterday” from the Beatles.

  27. It’s gotta be “Rock Lobster” by The B-52’s. They’re so much weirdness going on in that song. I’d loved to have been a fly on the wall during the writing process

  28. I would love to have been there when 1) Paul McCartney played Yesterday to Alma Cogan, because she had an extensive knowledge of popular music, and Paul wasn’t sure whether he may have stolen it. 2) When Andrew Loog Oldham locked Jagger and Richards in a room, and only let them out when they had written The Last Time. 3) Nothing Is In Vain. I would love to have heard the lyrics being put together, as this song means a lot to me.

  29. It would have been great to watch the And Your Bird Can Sing writing process, but mostly for how Paul and George came up with the instrumentation. John later denounced the tune as a “Another horror”, which comes as a surprise. I still like the song despite John’s assessment.

Get Back was not as spontaneous as it appears within the documentary’s editing based on 2 different places in Part 1 and Part 3. As you’ve seen in Part 1, John is late arriving but the other 3 are present. Notice Paul and Ringo work out how the vocals might sound, but only the refrain portion. George is the quiet one but eventually joins in by doing some rhythm accompaniment. He even yawns as if disinterested. Since you haven’t seen part 3 yet, watch for where George directs Billy Preston’s energies for the new song. It’s a distraction.

Get Back originates in George’s August 1968 tune Sour Milk Sea. Listen for it at the refrains and in particular, the ending phrase at about 3m:32s.

Paul launched his process off of a somewhat outside Beatles influence involving George Harrison’s collaboration with Jackie Lomax in the months leading up to the January 1969 project

  30. It would be fascinating how you guys conceived the idea and developed the lyrics and music to “No More Worried Company” from Orange. It has thought provoking lyrics (very timely), but has a feel of a 1920-30s radio show. I can picture you two dressed as flappers singing this song.

  31. There was Paul, almost desperately strumming away with a rhythm, followed by bits of melody and then some words here and there, and soon, it was “Get Back.”

Do the MonaLisa Twins use that approach or do you usually start with words and a story idea?

  32. Wow! Just listened to our story, and I’m seeing it as a children’s book, or a series of children’s books, with fanciful illustrations by Lisa if she has time (haha) or by someone who does. We’ll split the royalties 44 ways!

  33. so many options again but to pick one it would be “Stairway To Heaven”. Robert Plant has said that the lyrics came to him almost like automatic writing. I would have been interesting to watch.

  34. I couldn’t wait to get home from work to catch up with the story, what great fun and well done everybody for keeping it clean, imaginative and cohesive.
    Great job everyone ????
The song I would like witness the writing of would probably be David Bowie and space oddity.

  35. “On the twelfth day of Advent, we got from MLT: two written letters, two music bundles, two vinyl albums, one vintage drum head, three Christmas greetings, two stylish hoodies, two straps and pick sets, twooooo CD paaaaacks… three memberships, eight posters, two felted lambs, and three hand-signed Christmas CD’s.”

    (Okay, I’ll stop now.)

A lot of great song choices here, but I think I’d go for Penny Lane. There are three separate things Paul did that I’d love to have witnessed: actively reminiscing about his childhood, dreaming up that unusual chord sequence, and communicating to a trumpet player how he wanted the interlude to sound.

  36. Is this the real life?
    Is this just fantasy?

Would have to be the one and only Bohemian Rhapsody for me and I would love to have been there at the birth of such an epic. Being part ballad, part opera and part hard rock it was groundbreaking at the time and is now rightly considered as one of the greatest songs ever. Lightning in a bottle for sure ❤️

  37. Would have loved to see my favorite Christmas song of all time, “All That I Want Christmas to Be” By the MonaLisa Twins!

  38. What a great story! It’s so much fun to hear you read it and get your first time reactions.

I just finished watching all 3 parts of the Get Back series and it was amazing to have the cameras catch the moment that the song Get Back starts to come in through Paul on his bass, the same Höfner bass he still plays today. Then to see the evolution over the next few days until the final recording on the rooftop was really a fantastic gift. Like Jacki and Jürgen mentioned, being able to follow the creative process of Eleanor Rigby would have been fascinating. Having seen Get Back and having read quite a bit about Eleanor Rigby, I can now have a good picture of their process. So I’ll move to another artist, and like Dennis, I would have loved to be a fly on the wall during the writing of “I Bought Myself A Politician“.

I guess the tea today was nothing to write home about… ☕????

    1. That would be more interesting than you might imagine. This lovely song was written in 1950 by music man Meredith Willson, who also wrote “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.” It was featured in the play and movie The Music Man. And maybe you knew that.

  39. I think it would have to be Across the Universe. I love the way John was inspired to write the line ‘words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup’ , after he went downstairs to contemplate his wife at the time, Cynthia, who had been berating him ‘endlessly’ for one thing or another! LOL. So, the moral of the story is, no matter how hen -pecked you may be at the time, there is always inspiration there for genius.

  40. It’s not easy to answer. It is always interesting for me even just to listen to how one of the musicians composed a particular song or melody. And so many good songs and how to choose?
Maybe one of your original songs, but the one that doesn’t have a name yet, maybe soon you will catch this beautiful melody and compose a new song.

  41. Baker Street Muse” Jethro Tull. The best of the Tull line-ups from 1975. I was 10 and wouldn’t discover them until 6 years later.

  42. I haven’t seen the “Get Back” documentary, but am looking forward to it. It would be interesting to know the story behind “Hey Bulldog” and to be at those recording sessions. Or any of the recording sessions. Enjoy so much all your behind the scenes pictures and video’s.

  43. Szép estét mindenkinek, sok sikert a nagyszerű mesemondóknak.

The song that I would love to have observed the creation and recording of is ‘I Feel Fine’. A while ago I saw some musicians and/or composers (as usual can’t remember where) discussing the song and one of them commented that I Feel Fine was the first truly original Beatles song as it did not draw on the influence of other songs that were around at the time. I’ve said this in layman’s terms as I cannot recall their actual phrases.

It would have been fascinating to see John discovering and working on the opening with the feedback. Like so many Beatles’ songs it sounds so simple but from watching various online tutorials it seems more complicated than this.

No doubt the others put forward suggestions and thoughts but it is so obviously a John composition, not just because he does the vocals.

    1. De most magasan a könyvespolcon kellett keresgélnem, hogy megtaláljam a megfelelő szótárt. I Feel Fine は美しい曲です。

  44. “Nothing is in Vain” by The MonaLisa Twins.
That song has gotten me through many bad days.
It must have an interesting story behind it.

  45. Ordinarily I would pick off from my favorite album Pet Sounds but there are a lot of videos of how this was put together out there. So I will go with either I Am the Walrus or my favorite MLT cover Wish You Were Here. Your cover is so hauntingly beautiful.

  46. ‘My Ding-A-Ling’ written by Dave Bartholomew and covered by Chuck Berry! I imagine it would of been a right laugh to witness the writing of this song haha.

  47. I would have loved to have been able to listen watch and listen in on the song writing process for “I Bought Myself A Politician”.

  48. Wow, that was so fun, and impressed how it came together into a humorous cohesive story. It attests to the great minds, full of creativity and imagination, of the MLT fans that Mona and Lisa attract. It’s funny how the characters transformed from Monisa and Leeza to Mona and Lisa! I liked the cat and bear theme throughout, and ending up song writing by Mona and Lisa. Great work everyone, and also great story telling Lisa and Mona! The expressions you both added in the narration/reading really added to the success and fun!

What song in history would I have liked to witness in the process of it’s creation? For me it would be Brian Wilson (Beach Boys) creating Good Vibrations. David Bennett just did a video analyzing Good Vibrations on his youtube channel and described it as Brian’s pocket symphony and precursor to “A Day In The Life” and “Bohemian Rhapsody”. Brian did a lot of ground breaking work with Good Vibrations in the studio using sounds and instruments like never before. I would have loved to have witnessed all the creativity Brian explored in the studio.

Editing to add, Mona and Lisa and Papa Rudi when they wrote “The Wide, Wide Land”, a song close to my heart.

  49. “A Day in the Life” (although I actually “know” the story behind how it was cobbled together it would be fun to be a fly on the wall and actually watch the thing happen for real). BTW: That “story” must be what an LSD experience was like.

  50. Good morning everyone, a great story told by Lisa with some performances by Mona. All very fun as always.
Here comes the sun would be the song that I would have liked to witness.

  51. Hello, Mona and Lisa!
“And I love her.” The song that introduced me to the Beatles. They recorded this song for three days. I’d like to see how they did it.

  52. Whoops, I j6st realized that I misread today’s 5ask question wrong, I had understood it to be you meant a Beatles related song that you’d like to have witnessed because you were talking about seeing tge documentary, where now I see you meant in general, which in that case almost impossible to choose, but for a non Beatles, in case tgat was meant by in today’s task question, I ‘m going to narrow it down to … ” My Song” by Glass Tiger …

  53. That is a tough one! I think I’d like to hear the thought process that went into American Pie, since there still seems to be a lot of speculation as to the meanings of the lyrics. Thast said to be present when anything John and Paul worked to together would just be a fantasy come true!

  54. That’s Life. I think it would be interesting to see the thought process of writing the song and creating the video.

  55. OmG…what a creative frikkin fab story , kudos to all who put forth their input…that was a Hoot n and a half, and congrats to the winners !! ????

Ok, the song I’d of enjoyed witnessing the process of…. well, Eleanor Rigby … and/or Lucy In The Sky …. I just can never decided fully on one, guess I’m quite indecisive …..lol… I’d of preferred to witness All songs….lol ????????

  56. The one that comes to my mind is “The Great Curve” by Talking Heads. It’s such a unique, complex, multi layered creation, and I’m sure it must have undergone an interesting evolution from original conception to final form.

  57. Wow what a great story! We all could be the very first 100+ member songwriting team! Anyway I would have loved to be in Don McLean’s head when he wrote “American Pie”.

  58. I find your Still a Friend of Mine very moving and would love to have been present for its creation. Also, I was given many stories about the lyrics of Bridge Over Troubled Water and would love to know the truth!

  59. “Close to You” or “Sweet Lorraine” by yous guys. The former is heart-wrenching and may have a touching backstory. The latter may have a real-life backstory too, but apparently, you didn’t have the touch of insanity to go through with it.

      1. We can share! Better the chance to really witness (or maybe just hear the story of) the writing process.

      2. Ya think so? Maybe if it gets enough “votes” they’ll make a documentary? That would be cool. 😀 If they even remember.

  60. Hello Ladies,
What a fun and interesting story everyone came up with. What a creative way to end the story, tying it back in to the beginning.
As for the song I would like to be present for at the beginning, it is almost impossible because of all the genres of music, and all the fabulous songs.
Present Day would be No More Worries Company. From both ends. Papa Rudis original lyrics, and then Mona and Lisa’s new lyrics, and how it all turned in to the current creation. ( like Lorraine they have a touch of insanity).
Past Day would be Donna by Ritchie Valens.
The heart felt words wanting to know what happened to the girl he loved. (He did get to play it for her).
Beatles Tie in Day has to be This Boy. Both The Beatles and The MonaLisa Twins versions. The history and what the inspiration were. And Mona and Lisa’s version for Steve. (Thanks Steve for your Love and Beautiful gifts to them)

  61. After giving this question a lot of thought I have to be honest girls, there are so many incredible songs that have been written I just can’t choose one particular one.

  62. Oh that’s a hard one to pick. But Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen or A day in the life by the Beatles would be quite the experience without a doubt.

  63. Tomorrow Never Knows. Although the last track of Revolver, it was the first track recorded for the album, and just to be there watching them record it, and add all the tape loops, and allowing George Martin to produce The Beatles in the way that he produced the comedy records of The Goons plus Spike Milligan and Peter Sellers solo. Plus it would have been the first sessions that Geoff Emerick would have been engineer as well.

  64. Probably be Here, There and Everywhere or Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) for The Beatles but definitely Bohemian Rhapsody for Queen.

  65. I Iive in Nashville,Tennessee area , We had a tornado hit our community Friday and I just got power turned back on. It’s good to see Mona and Lisa again in the daily Videos! To answer the question, I think I would have liked to see the recording of “While mu guitar gently Weeps” Incredible song! Also Lisa does an incredible cover on this song!

    1. Great to hear you came through unharmed Randall. My daughter and her family just moved to Nashville last month, just in time for the tornado! Fortunately they are OK too.

  66. Oh my what a great video Mona and Lisa. Such a great story and what a great response from the members! So cool. My song would be Day in the Life, just to see how it was put together and the music changes and words.

  67. I would certainly have liked to be present at the wrting of: dear prudence. I’ve heard that the song is about prudence farrow ( sister of mia farrow) during the time the beatles were in India. I believe that that trip ( to maharesh yogi?) John Lennon started to look different at the world. So I really woul have liked to be there

  68. Maybe something with slightly ambiguous lyrics such as American Pie or You’re so Vain just to see how real life thoughts and experiences formed the song. Of course I could also add A Day in the Life and I am the Walrus for keep the Beatles groove!

  69. I would have loved to have been involved with the lyrics to “Eleanor Rigby”. I always find it very hard to say which of the Beatles songs is my favorite. But Eleanor Rigby is definitely one of them. I can not even explain why. Maybe it’s the instrumentation or the beautiful, melancholy melody. I’ve always found the lyrics very mysterious and they made me think.

    1. The first single that I ever bought was Yellow Submarine and of course Eleanor Rigby was the B side on that. I think that I used the money received for my 6th birthday to do so.

Whilst Yellow Submarine is a children’s song Eleanor Rigby is the complete opposite. At that age I was intrigued and enjoyed the song but obviously had no idea about the meaning of it. It was Paul showing his awareness of the lives of normal people and I agree to see him going through the process of obtaining the names of the characters must have been fascinating.

  70. If its Beatles songs then any of them.

Non Beatles songs then for me it has to be Bridge over troubled water.
