  1. Wow! Awesome!! My favorite is the artist painting the mural on a building wall and the guy in it runs away. Funny, but they were all funny. I also loved the one where he tells Alexa to start vacation mode. They were all so good. It’s difficult to choose.

  2. Hello Ladies,
What a cool video today (yesterday) was with Maria yesterday and got back late)
    Love this kind of magic.
I loved yours to with the candle, and the magic of your music.
Hope you had a Groovy Sunday
    Rick Ross

  3. That was so awesome and a great surprise!
I found Zach King a while ago, and he has a video / short film of pirates that is so much fun and he recently got a second part out.
Sunday was an awesome day for me on many levels! Thank you!

  4. Wow, I must be one of the very few people on the planet that had never heard of this guy! Totally Amazing what he does! You’re so clever, you two were actually figuring some of them out! Loved your candle trick too. I played a candle trick yesterday, I lit a couple of them and they completely burned down and wax flowed all over the table and floor. Can’t wait for the live-stream!

  5. That was pretty cool. Some of it reminded me of stunts the old movie comic actors like Charlie Chaplain or Buster Keaton used to do. This is a fun interview with clips of Buster Keaton stunts: https://youtu.be/frYIj2FGmMA

Of course none of that tops Mona and Lisa’s magic candle, which I assume involves a heat-resistent nano-robot embedded at the base of the candle wick and lighting and extinguishing the flame on command. Really there’s no other plausible explanation.

  6. Never seen or heard of Zach King. Some of the stuff was fun and clever, but honestly if I’m going into a YouTube rabbit hole I’ll be watching Mona and Lisa videos and interviews.
No offense to anyone else on or watching anything else on YouTube…

  7. I have not ever seen any of Zach King’s work, but it’s a lot of fun. My favorite here was the back of the car/manhole escape. I was reminded of the work of Harold Lloyd in the time of silent films who did incredible effects as well. His film “Safety Last” is a good example.

I also want to give a big shout out to Team MLT; I have spent some time in editing bays and to get these ultra-cool videos produced daily is no small feat! It’s making for a fantastic calendar this year, thanks!

  8. These videos are pretty cool and obviously he has mastered the are of digital editing. I would imagine Papa Rudi can really appreciate his skills since he is very good at photography, editing, green screens, etc. You already know all of us in the Club love your music and the effort you put into bringing us your very best, but I for one also appreciate the work your father does to make the videos so awesome too. Thanks to all of Team MLT!

  9. Nice submission. I think that I like the box, after it was delivered by the postman, the best. It has been a fun advent…thanks!

  10. I’ll say it again the best part is your pre-screening banter. It is so funny. Ya’ll did something like this candle trick last year with the cup of tea, and lighting the candle.
Today’s video reminded me of Max Fleisher’s cartoons in that the entire scene would evolve into another scene – Like Felix the Cat getting into his back of tricks it would change the setting.
    Peace BE

  11. It’s been said in a simile that life is like a box of chocolates; you don’t know what you’re going to get.

Sometimes there’s a convergence. Today it’s in anticipation of the Good News.

  12. Well, that’s what I get for forcing myself to stay up till 3 AM local time last night to catch this video as it premiered. I saw Lisa and Mona looking off to the side and snapping, but I didn’t even notice the candle, so I thought they had just lost their minds!

Those illusions are unbelievably impressive! Of course, I thought the same thing decades ago about movie tricks that nowadays look pretty pedestrian. It makes me realize there will eventually come a day when Zach’s magic seems rather ho-hum because new technology will make it trivial to create such effects. But in both eras we are (or will be) impressed by the imagination and painstaking effort required to achieve the results, given the tools of the time.

  13. got your Christmas card yesterday love it great picture, thank you, love watching this video so funny have a great rest of your day and a great start to the week, Love Ya

  14. Cool video, I’m gonna check out his channel. The Zucker brothers who created the Top Secret, Airplane, Naked Gun series and many others use a lot of sight gags and optical illusions. All of their movies you can watch many times and see new things every time.

  15. I love good slight of hand and the stuff they can do with editing now. It does blur the lines of reality some though. I use to worry that it would challenge my multiple personalities, but we’ve got it under control now…
Yep, more snow to move/deal with, have a groovy day all!
    D

  16. Another great video pick! I’ve seen some of these before, but it’s fun to watch some again.

The Twins video tricks may not be quite as fancy, but as the candle trick shows, they are very effective. I thought the editing in “I Bought Myself a Politician” was very good. The “Making Of” video shows what can be done by combining editing tricks, but it still boggles my mind, and that’s just the video part – add the audio editing and mixing and things get too complicated for me in a hurry.

The little video editing I’ve done is very simple, but I found myself getting lost and confused over and over. I have some slide show videos I work on from time to time, and just trying to get the background music to work right with the pictures I’ve chosen is a challenge for me. When I was working, I worked in a very high skilled technical job, and I was good at it. That gives me an appreciation of just how complex the technical side of what you do is, and just how good you guys are at it.

BTW, I know you decided to make the “Time of the Season” video private, but for those of us who saw it, it was a quick demo on just how good Lisa is at video editing. I still have a screen shot of the end result – poor Mona!

      1. Hi Kristi, yes the cover art of WHY? is Lisa’s creation. She mentioned a lot of hours at coffee shops working on it. Love MLT, they do everything themselves, so much creativity.

      2. Yes Kristi (Neill :-)), as Jung mentioned the artwork was done by Lisa. She drew it all on a program called “Procreate” on her iPad. Maybe after the Advent Calendar we can release the time lapse of it, it took several days.

      3. It will be much cheaper to ship the Why? artwork than it was with the “When We’re Together” canvases. Egads… it could be an NFT! I’m more a fan of the fungible Scribbles. Art is such a weird marketplace. Our former Grifter-in-Chief sold thousands of NFTs… sold out of them. Apparently, there is a secondary market for reselling those things for more than the original price. What a racket! Doesn’t reselling an NFT make it fungible? I’m soooo confuzzled. At least I was able to change Kristi and my shared profile. Baby steps.

    1. Thanks Dennis! Video editing can be super overwhelming at first but keep in mind that we have been creating videos for more than a decade now, so we have been learning things and adding tricks little by little 🙂

  17. I have missed the candle magic and the tea magic this year. It was nice to see a little bit today.
And Lisa, love the hat😍!!! That look has magic all on its own.

  18. Good Sunday Morning , just a tad after 8am, … and that was a wide awakener to start off my daybwith ( well, once I get out of my cozy cocoon of a warm bed as it’s kinda of a Winter Wonderland outside my window ) … but it’s not an illusion, but real….lol 😉🇨🇦☃️

As for today’s submission , that was cool , I’m not familiar with Zack but will have to further checkout his stuff now, that was fun, innovative, interesting, etc . Growing up in the 70s/80s, the illusionists of the day that I recall watching on TV were David Copperfield and Doug Henning or something like that in the name but definitely David Copperfield… as far as magicians go, tgat I recall, these 2 also fall into that category, but primarily known for their illusions of magic… can’t off hand recall any magicians with magic hats where rabbits, etc come out …maybe once I’m more brain awake, I’ll remember and/or be lazy and just Google Up….lol
Enjoyed watching alongside, you both, your commentary-reactions , the magic snapping fingers of yours…. A pleasure to tune into , Thankyou for Day 18…#MLTBuzzLuvGroovified Magic Marvelous 🎩🐇

  19. That was fun! Magic of any kind has always intrigued me – as a child because I believed it was real! As an adult, it still intrigues me because I know there is incredible imagination, inventiveness, and skill behind the illusion. I find that I am torn between wanting to know how the illusions are done and not wanting to know to preserve the illusion of magic. I think that the creative process behind the magic, especially in the case of video editing, must be extremely satisfying.

  20. Good morning everyone. Getting up early and heading on the Rt 666. Yeah, they changed it to UD 491, but I remember and know what it is…hwy to Hell! Lol I haven’t seen him on YouTube, however I saw shorts of him on True TV. Always love Magic shows. One of my guilty pleasure is watching Owl Kitty. So clever. Here’s a link.

    Enjoy. 🤘❤️🌹

  21. Did you notice that one of Zack’s bits was based on one by Buster Keaton, which came up a few days ago? The one with the spare tire and the car driving away… I think I’m going back to bed! It is sooo early here that there are hardly any comments yet.

  22. Amazing trick films. I have used another type of illusions in my time as teacher. I used to let the pupils cut out a monster which was kopied on a pieces of A4 paper. Then they should assemble it in a special way to make a moving monster – which they didn’t believe. The trick is that the face is folded inwards instead of outwards. Our brains can’t cope with this, so it makes an aoutward version of the head and that makes it move if you pass it – like this

and here is a model you can cut yourself

  23. Interesting. I know I watched that season of Amazing Race. The season featured You Tube personalities, but I had no clue who most of them were. I’ve since seen many Zach’s videos that Facebook has put on my timeline. Impressive work.

  24. Love these effects. You can see similar ones in this music video which I watch a lot:
    https://youtu.be/xkmWb0FfIzQ
This is where I first came across the illusion effects which are great when the scene changes. Also I have been following the band since 1981!
Lisa will need to up her editing game to match these!! Great to see some more candles on the set so we can have some candle magic again!

  25. That was so intriguing, I’ve never seen a Zach King video before! It’s amazing the effects he can do with perspective and illusion. Great submission Tomas. I went to a special effects museum once where illusion and perspective is illustrated to show how special effects can be achieved if the camera is framed properly. It was fascinating. The pictures don’t do it justice, but it was quite fun and interesting to see all the tricks that are possible behind the camera.

Really enjoying and looking forward to these Advent videos every day, thanks so much.
You look awesome with that beret Lisa!
Have a great lazy Sunday afternoon.
    Jung

  26. Wow this guy has some fantasy, how does come to his ideas? I suppose it’s a gift. I often envy the people who have these artistic gifts, it all looks so effortless, then again i realise that is often a matter of hard work, lots of practicing en persisting after failure.
Therefor we should all thank the artist for all there hard work trying to make our lives more attractive.
