Moving To Liverpool – Photos

You have probably heard us tell the story many times. Looking back, it still makes us laugh how we basically decided to move countries in a matter of a few days, without having planned to even do so!

We were roaming Ireland, checking out the music scene over there when we got some interesting offers from the UK. We became friends with a guy called Tim who wanted to help us get over to the UK, over to Liverpool of all places. Our favourite Beatle-y city!

So, we cut our Ireland travels short, hopped on the ferry to Liverpool and met up with Tim and our parents in the city of Mersey Beat!

Within a couple of days, we had made the decision … we were all going to move there! Now that was a phone call our relatives and friends back in Austria hadn’t expected 😉

We’re telling the story in a lot more details here but below you can see some pictures from the whole moving process. Dad and Michaela were absolute champions and travelled back and forth between Austria and the UK, moving our whole studio, furniture, instruments, … the whole lot. They had to deal with an exploding car engine, trying to cram an entire house’s worth of STUFF into a van and dealing with all the paper and admin work that goes into a move like that.

All while the two of us were already busy playing the first live shows and apprearing on radio and TV shows. But more about that in the next photo post which will be coming soon!

  1. Who woulda thunk that that stairway beast would become a glamorous flapper stalked on those very stairs by someone called Maxwell.

(And I’ll always be blown away by how your family just up and moved to a different country. Can’t wait to hear more details about how that all came about.)

  2. I couldn’t imagine what it took to accomplish that move. I moved just a mile from one home to another, and it practically made me crazy… but to move from one country to another? Amazing!!!

  3. It’s comforting to see my female heroes having to face the same difficulties as me during a move when we have so much equipment. I just did exactly the same move 8 months ago from Belgium to France. Without the engine failure, thanks God.

  4. Wow! That was quite an ordeal making a move like that. Sorry for the engine failure. I hope insurance helped pay for it. Your new house and studio looks real nice. One of the picture captions I don’t quite agree with; Mona just doesn’t look too “beasty” on the stairs. Actually, she’s kinda cute in that outfit.

  5. I can’t imagine all the work involved in a move like that! I moved to my current house when I was 5 and I don’t remember the move at all. Been here ever since (almost 56 years!). You folks have a nice studio.

  6. Boy, that looks like a huge undertaking and brave move considering all the logistics involved. Do you still own the house where the studio was in Austria? Tim, I will assume is the Mighty Quinn that introduced you to Liverpool and promoted you during your earlier days in England. Did he introduce you to Steve Harley, Albert Lee and some of the other musicians you did gigs with? Hard to believe it’s been 5 years since your English adventure began.

  7. What an incredible journey indeed. And what a sense of adventure you all must have to uplift your lives just like that. You are fearless! It looks like the box Mona is sitting on works better as a chair than the chair Lisa was trying to put together! Thanks for sharing these.

  8. Those must have been some incredibly exciting and dream like days literally fork lifting your lives from Austria to Liverpool, and Kudos to your parents for their support through all that and moving there with you. On the cover photo looks like Lisa is onto finishing assembling chair number 3 (but the legs don’t look right ? ) Brings back fond memories of assembling 5 massive IKEA bookshelves the last time I moved.

  9. Ahhh… Reminds me of the poems I wrote for you in those poetry gift booklets about the your career journey around that time frame…. Damn that exploding engine… It just couldn’t handle the MLTBUZZINGGroovy Power encased inside the van and trailer?????❤️???.. A move to remember…. No one got hurt /harmed In the process???✌️?️☮️??.. Thankyou for sharing this chapter of your life journey… It marks a Milestone and epic monumental place for you all…

  10. Yes, I remember reading and hearing about your move in your many radio interviews. I’m not surprised that poor van’s engine’ blew up considering it was dealing with moving your home from one place to another. As for the beast guarding your new staircase, it reminds me of a staircase in a very famous YouTube video of a Beatle’s cover! I’ve no doubt you won’t want to be moving for a while now. Thanks for sharing the photos.
