MLT and the Music Industry (Part 2) – Q&A

There were too many questions …

… to fit them all into one “MLT & the Music Industry” Q&A video without making it too long. So this is Part 2 in which we can take our time to tackle a bunch more of them!

We like that these Q&As give us an opportunity to let you in on our philosophy and perspective on many things surrounding what we do and give a little bit more “backstory”.

Thanks to every one of you that submitted a question! Even if we didn’t pick yours (we simply couldn’t fit them all, unfortunately) we still appreciate it a lot. We will soon announce the next “Q&A Topic”!

The comments some of you left underneath Part 1 were incredible. We will be reading the comment section with interest here again!

Thanks for supporting our journey. We hope that this video shows just how much of a vital part the MLT Club and all your contributions have played in staying flexible and independent. You help make many things possible, and for that we are so grateful! 🙂

Peace & Love,

Mona & Lisa

  1. It is so refreshing that your approach is not directed at wealth and fame in the usual sense, and that you retain control of what you do. I watched the movie “Yesterday” recently – you know the one where the guy wakes up in a world where nobody else has heard of the Beatles, and he makes a career on passing their songs off as his own? As he increasingly suffers the pressures of fame and record company demands, he delivers an impassioned version of the Beatles song ‘Help’. The lyrics made me realise how unhappy John Lennon was at the height of his fame. Stick to your path!

  2. Mona and Lisa,
Thank you so much for keeping in touch with us club members. The music industry is not all it is cracked up to be and is very difficult and hard to maintain a long career. That is why I am so glad you have chosen the path your own with your own music , business and the Mona Lisa touch. That speaks volumes to all of us knowing that your not caught up in the crazy world we live in and to let us know that your journey is not something that will be done over night and forget it but to continue the path your on. Your both very smart on how your handling your talents to us and we are very lucky to be a part of it. Plesae keep it coming and as always anything you do or come up with is worth the wait.
    Thanks again

    Oh yea and Maddie too!!!

  3. Hi Lisa, Hi Mona,

Thanks for answering my question. Your explanation was enlightening. I love listening to your interviews and the radio show performances. Often times, two voices and two guitars are the perfect number.

I was wondering if you get recognized a lot, so thanks for clearing that up, too. It’s funny to think of you two running from throngs of fans like in the Beatle movies or your DVD advert. Actually, if you were confronted by throngs of MLT Clubbers, it would be the most polite and orderly throng you would ever meet.???? I picture all of us bestowing you with gifts and then asking if you were eating a healthy diet, and getting enough rest.

The first time I heard Dreams, I felt like it was from a movie soundtrack. Orange has that feel, too. Any filmmaker would be lucky to have one of your songs in their soundtrack.

Looking forward to the Steve Harley WOTT. We just love those, and the Q&A videos.

  4. Great information about the why you do what you do and how you do it. I loved your discussion of these questions. And, thank you so much for answering mine. ????❤
All in all this was a very entertaining, interesting, and eye-opening session. Praise to you both for your hard work and dedication to bring your creativity, talent, love and charm into our homes and lives. It’s no wonder that we love you both so so much! ????

  5. Your devotion to the artistic integrity of your music without letting the lure of the music industry with it’s get rich and famous quick schemes at the expense of creating good meaningful music is what makes you both so special and a gift to us all. Your philosophy of putting your art first is what I always admire about you both so much. Your music is making a difference in peoples lives every day!

I think your songs like Dreams, Nothing Is In Vain, Once Upon A Time, Still A Friend of Mine and others are all so uplifting and moving, they would be awesome in a film. I hope some wise and inspired producer discovers your wonderful music soon. 🙂

The Steve Harley WOTT sounds awesome and I really look forward to that. I wish your Q and As and WOTT and all your videos like these never end when I start watching them, they are so enjoyable. Thanks so much for doing this! 🙂

  6. OMG Lisa’s incredulity when Mona reads Jerry C’s question makes me fall off my chair laughing! Great answers to very good questions. Thanks ladies!

  7. Thank you so much again for giving all us “clubbers” something special to look forward to Tuesdays and Fridays! I thoroughly enjoy each one, but part one of this one stood out to me only because it included the now legendary “Angry Boop”. Just when we thought you two couldn’t get any more adorable, Lisa accuses Mona of having a “God complex” and they bop noses! You can’t make this stuff up! Can’t wait for the hinted-at new Duo Session video coming soon, as well as (I hope!) a new Duo Session album! Blessings always!

  8. Thanks for more of an inside look of the current music industry. You in a way were lucky that your ways of monetizing your music and merchandise were already home based and mail order so the pandemic didn’t hurt your ability to generate income like it did with many musicians that were more live performance oriented to earn their revenue and had that yanked out from them suddenly by the lockdowns. So which of your CD’s would qualify as a platinum album in Austria?

  9. I very much liked your Q & A. Interesting to know some of your background and possible plans for the future. The music business has to be way different than any other. A question for the future? Do you have a Business Plan of some sort? A follow-up to that – Do you have a Marketing Plan? I think I can see that you have structure as to who does what, where, when, and how.

I only say this, as I had a business in the horticulture/agricultural arena. I discovered an underserved niche market. I also managed large independent garden centers and wholesale nurseries for others.

  10. Thanks girls for your time to do things like this. It is always a delight to hear your answers to anything we ask and just so you know, sharing yourselves with us in the MLT club is very special. I for one totally appreciate all that you do to keep us engaged with you every week. You two are very special … thanks again for your time with us.

  11. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and ideas with us. I realise how committed you both are to your own part of the music business. Can I say how grateful I am that you are. I love to listen to both your covers and your own music please keep doing what you do so well.
Finally Mona, have you stopped being a blonde?

  12. Hello Ladies!,
Such an interesting array of questions and Your answers were so interesting.
I too had wondered sometime back, if you had time anymore to answer Emails and Questions in the forum. Much to my delight, the answer is a resounding YES!
IMO it is very relaxing when you have time to answer Questions or read Emails. The positive comments, or praises that everyone send to you must really make your hearts swell. One of the many reasons for doing things your own way.
Thanks for everything Team MLT, and may things continue to prosper for you.
    Continued Best as always,
    Rick Ross

  13. Interesting and fabulous (again)! You come across as so honest and personable. I love hearing the backstories about your art. Your music seems to appear like magic to us listeners, but there is so much hard work and dedication (in addition to talent) going on behind the scenes.

Nothing would tickle me more than going to a movie after the pandemic is over and hearing your music on the soundtrack. ????
