Our Gosling Fostering Adventure – Out & About

Honk, honk …

That’s Geesish for “Hi, we hope you are all doing great!”.

Today, we want to share our gosling adventure with you all in full! 🙂

As you have probably seen in past posts, we were gosling foster parents throughout May. We came across an orphaned gosling and looked after it for a few weeks until we were able to find it a perfect forever-home. Little “Neve” is now living on a goat farm with a pond alongside another orphan her age who she gets on with great. We visited her the other week – she is almost fully grown now and loving life!

In today’s vlog we cut together all the footage we filmed during the time she was with us. We had no idea geese can be so adorable, affectionate, people-friendly and social. This experience was truly special and we will treasure it forever. We’re excited to share it all in today’s video 🙂

Honk, honk! (= Stay groovy!)

  1. This was adorable and endearing. Some people would look at a young gosling wandering around and say, “So what?” I’m glad you didn’t. This is the kind of thing that makes me proud to be a fan and a supporter.

On another front, it just goes to show how you two are always thinking creatively that you were basically filming a documentary even when little Neve was just days old, as if you knew that you would one day be melting our hearts with the story of how you befriended an abandoned baby goose, almost certainly saved its life, and gave it a future.

  2. Just watched this. (Been out of the loop for a little bit). That was soooo nice. Good to watch something sweet and uplifting in this day and age. Great job keeping that little one safe and sound.❤️

  3. Little Neve was so fortunate to have the four of you to nurture and protect her. And what a heartful experience she brought to your world. Thanks for sharing.

  4. Such a little cutie pie! I had one too MANY MANY years ago we found behind our firehouse. Like you I kept it for a while but it got big real quick and we had my uncle take it out by his house about a half hour away to a small lake. They can be quite messy too if you know what I mean! 😉 Thanks for sharing the video girls, I’m sure little Neve misses you both.

  5. what a great job you all did in caring for her, you should all be so proud of yourselves as we the MLT club members are of you. Can’t wait for an update soon ????????❤️

  6. Bittersweet?? Was it like losing a member of the family? Also, I perceive you are able to see Neve again. Is that true??

  7. Wow Neve grew up very quickly. And who knew a baby gosling could eat so much!!
Y’all did an awesome job taking care of her. I am so glad she is doing well in her new home. Great story! Thank you for sharing that with us. ????❤????????

  8. I’ve watched this amazing video several times now. Some people would say “a manly man shouldn’t be watching this” oh yes they should until the miracle of life and love sinks in. Someone told me years ago, These small animals, we share the planet with, dogs, cats. birds, I talk to wild rabbits like we’re old friends, chipmunks, squirrels they’re not here very long. They’re lives are short and very hard. It’s up to us to make sure they get the best life possible if we can. You guys took in this helpless forgotten creature who, if life was good, could only eat poop and hopefully someday fly. You proved they can think, they can reason, they can love and most of all they can return love and at two months Neve is just getting started. She will remember, she could even find her way home. Bless you both.

  9. Really enjoyed watching the video. We just finished watching my nephew’s dog while they went away on a vacation for a few days. It was good to see him come and good to see him leave as he was a lot of work but we miss him. He didn’t like being alone either. Glad the goose found a play mate, and it ended well. Now I’ll take a closer look at the geese in our area with their young and think of little Neve. Here’s hoping you get caught up on your sleep.

  10. Hi Mona, Hi Lisa… What a lovely video, you took very good care of “sweet” Neve and found a good place for her to grow up and have a good goose life..surely you must have been sad to say goodbye, but it will be better for her..surely we all fall in love with her..can’t wait to hear about her and see her again..the more I see about you the more I admire the lovely Wagner family..thanks for sharing all about Neve with us. She was very lucky that you found her..but as you said at the end of the video..Thanks Neve..

  11. What a wonderful, heartwarming video. Thank you for sharing this. I can’t imagine a more nurturing environment for Neve then the care provided by the Wagner family.

I really enjoyed the bedtime scene with Lisa and Neve. It really brought back fond memories of many years ago when my own children were quite young. I remember numerous requests for drinks of water after they had been tucked in, the many times they crawled into bed with my wife and I, and how it seemingly always ended up with me getting a small foot in the face!

  12. That entire video should go public on YouTube….it was wonderful ????…..I saw Lisa and Papa Rudi both wearing a MonaLisa Twins hoodie and enjoyed the music score to the vlog…this was really a cute video…THANK YOU…..also good to see Papa Rudi and Michaela get in the film and HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY MICHAELA….my MLT Calendar failed me as it didn’t have your birthday listed….a correction for next years calendar….somehow somewhere sometime I feel there will be an original song for or about NEVE that will just capture our ????

  13. What a fantastic video! So cute and nice to document the experience. I would love to see Neve as a full fledged goose with her gander Frankie. Who knows, they might go to Hollywood!

  14. This is the sweetest video ever! Your love for Neve is so evident throughout this video. I cried a little at the end. What you all did for Neve is priceless. You did the best thing for her. Looking forward to an update in a few weeks. Much love to the Wagner family!!!

  15. Ladies,
it’s wonderful to see you learn and know birds so much better.
It must help to get to know one on the ground.
Here’s hoping to see Neve take flight.

I would say how about a song but Songbird seems to fit so well.
    Everyone looks well.
    Cheers

  16. The video with this wonderful and heartwarming story only reconfirms that you are both truly gifts from god! Your love and affection for Neve is on full display for all of us to appreciate and admire. My hat is off to pay tribute to you and your entire family for truly showing us all your love story and journey with Neve.

As always, “Thanks for the Memories.”

  17. Such an adorable adventure for Neve and the her foster family! I’m looking forward to seeing your new video starring Neve in the future. (I don’t know what song you’ll feature in the video, but I’m sure it won’t be “The Fox”! ????????????) It would also be great to see any check-in visits you’re able to do with Neve and Frankie later.

  18. This is amazing. Neve is quite the lucky “duck”! The soundtrack is perfect, as always.

I did not know geese can be domesticated like this. It’s so cute how Neve follows you around and screams for attention. She seems to know when to come in out of the rain, too.

The sleeping sequence is brilliant. Our two cats can be attention hogs at night.
It’s not uncommon, like this morning, to open my eyes and see my twenty pound cat, Tex, sitting on my chest waiting for me to wake up. It’s very cute how Neve sleeps on your necks.

But catching the poop really takes the cake. ????

    Have a groovy weekend!

    Marlo & JP

  19. OMG How lovely was this video! So heart warming and touching. I had tears watching at the end saying good bye to Neve! A part of the Mona Lisa club and family member at that. You all embraced this beautiful Neve and seeing it from the beginning to the end and how big she got was amazing. Lisa watching you and Neve the last night together was so nice and it reminds me of my kids when they were little, wanting to play in the middle of the night and cuddling. Mona you as well on how you and Neve was together and singing was so nice. So now that your going back to business I am sure there will be a song or two about Neve!! God bless you all and love and hugs from me and Maddie

  20. That was the cutest video. You ladies must have lost a lot of sleep. Thank you for sharing that. Neve got big fast. You can tell you are animal lovers and so am I. I can’t wait to hear the song that was inspired by Neve. Stay Groovy little Neve!!!! We have a big pond just down the block and Geese have taken over the park and yes, they poop a lot! They do honk a lot. But the little ones are so cute. Happy 4th of July to all my American friends!!!

  21. That was a lovely video tribute to your little friend. The speed of eating that melon slice was impressive and how did Lisa get any sleep with a small goose in her room all night and being filmed at the same time! I was wondering whether they ever fly away once they grow up and if so do they get tagged so you can track them on a map. Would be interesting to know if they migrate somewhere, but maybe need to be part of a bigger gaggle to be confident of flying away. I think you will really miss little (or maybe large by now) Neve.

  22. The video keeps drawing me back, it’s so wonderful. It’s so heartwarming to see you both sing to little Neve. She looks intently, listening. What could be more wonderful than that, the luckiest gosling in the world.

It’s amazing how such a little creature can give and receive so much love. She looks so content and happy when she sleeps along side Mona or Lisa with her neck outstretched, or cuddled up over your eyes and nose. You did an amazing job, not only capturing such beautiful moments that move us all so much, but raising little Neve from a little fluff ball to a magnificent junior goose. You both impress the heck out of me all the time in so many ways. You are both angels. ????

  23. Thank you for sharing this video with us. It is great that you will be able to visit Neve on a regular basis. It is not goodbye, but see you soon. Your bond with Neve will always be there. Rescue pets are the best, and lil’ Neve will always be yours, but you may have to share her with Frankie!

  24. So adorable on so many levels! Team MLT finds yet another way to spread the joy! Thanks loads for sharing such a touching video with us!

  25. I love this video and your adventure with Neve. How did you come up with that name? Does it have a special meaning?

So, I’m hoping you will give us updates on how she and Frankie are doing. They need a ship name. How about Nenkie?

  26. How adorable! So much love flowing both ways.
I’ll bet you could market those diapers. If I had a few dozen of them I might be tempted to foster a gosling myself.
I’m really hoping that “Goose on My Back” makes the cut for the new album.

  27. That was cuteness overload! Thanks for sharing. Didn’t know geese get sinus infections -I can well relate. “Songbird” really fit perfectly. Loved how ya’ll sinched it. Really nice that ya’ll shared more of your lives with us – Precious moments. Stay gravy (1970s Okie slang of a slang), peace be.

  28. A very cute and touching video. Thanks for sharing.
To Jacki Hopper and all the Canadians – Happy Canada Day.
And to all the Americans here in the USA – Happy Independence Day on Monday the 4th of July.
Hope everyone has a terrific and groovy weekend. Take good care.

    Love and Peace,
    Bobby S.

  29. That was a wonderful thing you did for Neve. Not only nurturing her and keeping her safe when she was vulnerable, but also letting her go. She will have a wonderful life at the farm with her goose friend.

  30. Gosh, how incredibly touching! Better than a Disney movie. Never really knew that geese were so affectionate! But after all, considering who it was that was taking care of her, how could she not be so lovable? I thoroughly enjoyed this, your first true film documentary. And, the soundtrack was perfect -all my favorite tunes! So glad you could find such a perfect home for Neve. I am looking forward to the sequel; “The Further Adventures of Neve -The Grooviest Goose Going”.

  31. How precious and fitting you posted this today, on July 1st, which is CANADA DAY as well, I’m declaring The Wagners, and Neve to be Honorary Canadians today ❤ ???????? ???? ???? ???? ???? … HAPPY CANADA DAY to you !!!!

I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure you shared, and indeed you are all Genuine Animal Whisperers , it clearly is evident, and tge animals know this and respect and love you in return and I know Neve will forever remember you, that’s a fact … Thankyou for sharing and taking all of along on this wonderful Foster Family Caring Adventure Odyssey with Neve , she forever has a special place in your hearts and ours !!!!

  32. Wow Mona and Lisa, that is the most heart warming thing I’ve ever seen!!! I felt a little tear in the end on the last day you spent with her, the car ride, and then seeing her take her first dive in the pond just made me feel this is the best for her where she will flourish with Frankie. The music from Baby Mine to Songbird at the end was perfection, especially Songbird.

I’ve never seen a gosling grow into a goose like that, and I am amazed. Neve is so responsive and affectionate with you both, and I could see in her eyes the love she was feeling from you both. Seeing her stretch out occasionally like that was so cute! The scene with Neve cuddling and sleeping through the night with Lisa was priceless! I think whenever I feel down, I can come back to this video and it will lift me up too. This video really underscores what this whole ride on the big merry go around is all about, love and those precious moments you spend loving.

It must have been so hard for everyone letting Neve go. Me and MJ learned so much about ourselves and what it means to love with our precious time with our dog Max who was like a son to us. He taught us too what love is.

When you love, the letting go is part of the loving. ????????
I hope you get to watch Neve grow, and spend time with her.
Thanks so much for sharing this, absolutely loved it!

  33. I’m sitting and watching the tales of “NEVE” when my cat, Bubs, comes up and lays down beside me. He has to be petted, so I watch and pet Bubs. He starts purring so loud I have to turn up the volume. Bubs is a bit like Neve. Some where to eat, sleep and play, and the world is just all right.
I was really takin with the diaper for NEVE. I thought that was so clever.
Really enjoyed seeing NEVE again. Be sure and film your next visit with her.

  34. Hi Ladies,

Wow that was so exciting to see Neve grow into such a beautiful young Gosling. Now you know a bit of being a parent and the Love you have for something so precious .
Now if Lisa could be taught not to snore and thrash about when she sleeps, Neve would have been able to get a good night’s rest. ????Mona had to come in and sooth her the next morning. ????
It was wonderful seeing Michaela and Rudi come out from behind the camera and enjoy Neve too. Always GREAT to see them. They are as much a part of your journey as you are.
Thank you Ladies again for such an Amazing Adventure.
    Best Always
    Rick Ross

  35. Maybe it wasn’t “Neve” that kept Lisa awake!
It is possible that it is the opposite!!!
In my opinion it was probably Lisa who was preventing “Neve” from sleeping…
It’s weird that no one ever told her that she snored while sleeping…

  36. The Story of Neve. (Great films deserve a title.)
Your artistic talents made this an interesting and heartwarming adventure of love and caring that brings peace to ones being and a smile to their face. Just what we need in this crazy world!
Honk, honk! (= Thank you for sharing!) 🙂

  37. I think I got this.
Roll in a pile of feathers.
Hang around ponds in the Liverpool area.
Look lost, abandoned, and orphaned.(That’s the easy part)
Mona and Lisa find me, take me home. All I have to do is cuddle, eat, and listen to them sing to me. I can do all of those things. Easy peezey.
I have to go now, I need to run out and buy a bunch of down filled pillows.

  38. Mona & Lisa, I am overwhelmed by your immense sensitivity and love for our brother and sister creatures on our path in life. Your humility, humanity and lack of pretension are such incredible examples to all of us. My very good friend is the actress Olivia Hussey (Romeo & Juliet, Mother Teresa, etc.) and I always experience her as a living example of the good, the love and the joy of being a troubadour of love. Please understand when I say that you exhibit the very same joyous, loving and non-judgemental qualities of both Olivia and Mother Teresa. I am joyous in my later years to find two incredibly talented young women who really get our purpose in life … to Love, Enrich and Support others. Mona and Lisa, you truly inspire me and I love you, Rudy and Michaela very, very much. Thanks for being such eloquent beings. Always… Brian St. August

      1. Richard, thanks so much for your kind words. Clearly, you are just as enlightened as the Wagner family. That gives me such comfort in today’s World. Thanks for being YOU.

  39. You ladies are truly amazing!! Her lucky Neve was to find such a loving family to care for her.As if I didn’t love all of you enough already, the journey you took us on with Sweet Neve has definetly made me love the Wagner family even more. Can’t wait for more Neve updates in the future.
As Always, sending Love & Hugs to all(or as Neve & Frankie would say…Honk,Honk!!)
