Pembrokeshire – Photos

The second best coastline in the world?

Apparently that’s what “National Geographic magazine experts” rated the coast of Pembrokeshire. You better believe we had to verify that ourselves! 😉

In August, the UK was experiencing a very unsuspected short but intense late-summer heatwave. We wanted to make the most of these potentially last really nice days of the year and decided to take a spontaneous 2-night camping trip down south to Pembrokeshire, a part of South Wales, together with Dad and Michaela.

We had heard a lot of nice things about that region of the UK, and the almost Mediterranean looking coastal lines there seemed perfect for the 28°C (82°F) weather we were getting. And we weren’t disappointed!

We love to take you along to our little adventures like that and hope you’ll enjoy doing some exploring with us! We hiked along parts of the coast, swam in the sea, camped on a farm with piglets and sheep and checked out some of the gorgeous coastal towns like Tenby and Dale. And on our way back home we did a quick side-trip to Elan Valley again. This time we found it with much less to almost no water in the reservoirs, and we were quite surprised about how it actually looks like underneath the water surface.

Maybe some of you who are from the UK will have visited these areas before. Did you like it as much as we did?

We arrived back home fully recharged and took lots of inspiration with us. If you’ve been anywhere nice recently let us know!

  1. AWESOME pics!! Thanks so much for sharing. My wife and I LOVE the ocean(east coast USA). Haven’t been in several years; hope to make it back there soon.🥰😁

  2. Beautiful pictures. I love the seashore, and small towns on the shore as well. It doesn’t hurt that the seafood is best there. Reminds me of spending my summers at the ocean growing up, and a few other places. Thanks for the virtual tour.

  3. That was delightful! The natural scenery, the architecture, the wild and not-so-wildlife, and the beautiful people. Here in the U.S. there are certainly areas of great natural beauty (if you don’t mind driving for days to get there) but nothing to match the architectural history that is so taken for granted in Europe. Thank you for recording your adventure and letting me tag along vicariously.

  4. Nice pictures. Not been there.Did go to the Gower area when i worked 6months in Abergavenny at the hospital back during the Winter of 1989/90. I’m Sussex based and born, so have the South Downs National Park almost on my doorstep, although i travel when i can, around Croatia, and personally love Rovinj.

  5. Stunning. I live in Bridgend, about 30 min drive (or ride on the Triumph) so go there frequently. You’re right about it being the second best coastline in the UK – the best is around Orkney, especially the west coast of the Mainland. 🙂

  6. We live in a beautiful world. And I love those brightly painted houses! As always, thanks for including us in your travels!

  7. Beautiful photos of your trip. I felt I was right along with you. It looked like such a good time. Our last major vacation was to Newport, Rhode Island. We spent 5 days enjoying the scenery and touring the mansions of the Vanderbilt’s, Astor’s and many other tycoons. My wife’s health has prevented us from traveling in the last several years. Thanks for taking us along on your trips.

  8. A lot of nice views from the different locations. The beach and hill areas would be nicely viewed from the seat of a paramotor. Thanks for sharing your trip with your fans.

  9. I love the pics! What a magical place. One of my greatest passions is travel (and I sure have the travel bug after seeing them). Thanks for sharing. Recently, I had a nice little adventure in Montana’s beautiful Rocky Mountains. We explored an old mining ghost town off the beaten path.

  10. hi ladies, thanks for the wonderful series of photos. It gives a good impression of this area that i do not know at all ( i live in the Netherlands). The photos are as always from high quality. It is also nice to see you all together as a family. I am a bit jaleous on your dad. (Haha), although i have nothing to complain about.

  11. Thanks so much for sharing your vacation with us, those were beautiful pictures.
We got to see what across the pond looks like, I’d love to come and check it out someday.
You have a very interesting life, enjoy every day! We enjoy what you bring to us. Awesome!

  12. In Oklahoma USA, we experience a late season heat wave in September. It’s known as Indian summer. You guys should start a side hustle as photo-journalist. You have good eyes for doing that. Peace be.

  13. Thank you so much for including me and the rest of your extended family in your summer adventure. Absolutely gorgeous scenery and such fun and enjoyment. Fantastic pics of the whole family. I know you girls are very tough and strong but I was especially impressed seeing you use granite rocks as pillows for your afternoon nap!

  14. Hello Ladies! And Team Mlt!
What a fun and Breathtaking trip you all had. Picking Berries, Swimming, Hiking, seeing yourselves hanging from the store window, (little red and yellow haired persons hanging outside shop), climbing the rocks, Gorgeous Scenery, camping, and all the little animals. You all packed all you could in 2 days.
Love Mona’s Hoodie! So pretty and Color Pops! Wonder if she can find another one? ????
Did the rest of you get any too?????❤❤
Thanks so much for sharing your trip with us. Best always
    Rick Ross

  15. I like the pictures of Michaela on the dam and on the bench and any picture with either Mona or Lisa in it.
Lisa, you look leaner, have you been running a lot? You look great! Always beautiful!
Mona I just love the picture of you and Michaela. Gorgeous!
Can you guys adopt me? I’m housebroken already, I don’t eat much (usually) and some of the strange noises I make are considered funny. I don’t bite and make a great Amish casserole or ham vegetable soup. Sleep on it…

  16. Wow, absolutely gorgeous pictures of some fantastic landscapes. What an awesome area to visit. So spectacular.
Looks like you had perfect weather and a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing. Cheers me up! Love the pictures.

  17. That is a beautiful area. Thank you so much for continuing to show us a part of your lives that some you tubers would not do, I think we all feel closer to you family because of it!!! I am so glad you were able to get a way and take some time off. Thanks again!!!!

  18. Wow, thanks so much for taking us along, enjoyed it very much. It must have been so nice camping and sleeping out in the open by the river there. River looks beautiful, and what an incredibly scenic coastline too, with those unique coves and rock formations. The houses in Elan look like the fairytale houses in Thomas Kinkade paintings. Loved seeing those candid shots of everyone, Mona, Lisa, Michaela and Rudolf. Lots of heartwarming family shots there. In these photos I noticed just how lucky and blessed Michaela and Rudolf are to have such beautiful wonderful daughters! Nice cartoon/fairytale black dress you were wearing Lisa, and Rudolf looked cool in those drone goggles there. It looked like a wonderful couple days of hiking/camping in Pembrokshire. You live in a beautiful place, and some places look like places in the fairytales.

In Western Canada it’s been hard to get away anywhere because of the extreme climate that brought a heat dome and wildfires this summer and then this weekend we had an “atmospheric river” that brought 250 mm of rain over 48 hours that have flooded many towns and washed away highways just east of Vancouver. Quite the mess everywhere. But this did not stop me from getting out to some favourite scenic and quaint places around the city in the summer to enjoy a little nature too.

Thanks again for sharing these wonderful family times with us, really, really enjoy them. 🙂

PS. That place by the river reminds me of a fairytale land from a Thomas Kinkade painting like this.

  19. I love Wagner vacation photos. You all have such a great eye for capturing memories. And thanks to Rudi for bringing his production crew with him. The drone shots are amazing. They look really sharp on our big screen.

is that Rudi throwing rabbit ears over Mona’s head? Nice!

You camped on a farm? Did anyone make any attempt at a counting sheep joke? You could literally count sheep that night.

Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away???? pf

Thanks for sharing these. You are a very charming family. Did Rudi have to slowly sneak up on that seagull, or was it a chance meeting?

  20. What a beautiful place to get to visit! Getting to take the trip on a family outing is even better. I always like to see all of you just being yourselves in how you dressed, the way your hair is done, choice of shoes, etc. BTW, Michaela looked especially lovely in the photos on this trip!! You all inspired me to get going and take a trip to the coast to enjoy some of our late good weather before winter sets in. Thank you so much for sharing all those pics with us. It was delightful!!!!

  21. Beautiful pictures! Wales looks like a wonderful place to visit. You should be getting some compensation for publishing these Wales photos. My favorite picture was the dog peaking through the fence/gate – very nice artsy shot.

We haven’t been anywhere special here but the weather has been absolutely beautiful, and we are retired, so our need to recharge is minimal. I’ve been “digging the weeds” as in “When I’m 64”, one of my favorites of your covers.

  22. Thanks so much this wonderful travelogue! You all are very gifted at telling the stories with pictures. The scenes are beautiful for sure, even more so by how beautiful all the girls are ( including Michaela of course!). I especially like the pictures of Papa Rudi on the bench with his girls, and Michaela with her arm around Mona. Those are heartwarming family moments.
We just returned from 5 days in Bermuda. Although your photos make the area spectacular, I would strongly advise you to visit Bermuda before making any final determinations of prettiest coastline. I’ll try to attach a couple photos. The Wagner family is just fabulous…I’ll be happy to give you any travel advice I can.

  23. Once again you folks take such breathtaking photos! LOVE the English countrysides! Wish I could come over. Thanks for sharing!

  24. Thank you so much for sharing with us. It is like family sharing when you go on vacation or holiday. So cool and stunning photos and you all look so happy and relaxed to be away and see the beauty the earth has to offer. So glad to be a part of this club so we can share these types of adventures and to see your part of the world. As always your smiles light up the universe and so cool to see Rudi and Micaela. Thank you again for sharing with us and god bless

  25. That’s so great! Regardless of how the area was”rated” for coastal majesty, it’s cool to have such a generous photographic record of your time there (and to share). The dog peering thru a fence looks pretty much like our own Fergus, an Aussie. ????

  26. I always enjoy and appreciate when you share these types of adventures with us. Stunning country plus stunning ladies add up to beautiful pictures. I always love the appearance of the Heide Pigtails!!!
In October, my wife and I went to Cooks Forest in northern Pennsylvania to look at the autumn foliage. It was wonderful. Prior to that we went to Gettysburg in early September and to Coastal Delaware in July. The Wagner’s are always welcome to accompany us or visit.
