Behind “I Bought Myself A Politician” – DAY 2 & 3 – Photos

A look behind the scenes …

Last week we uploaded all photos taken on Day 1 of the “I Bought Myself A Politician” video shoot.

Today, we’re sharing Day 2 & 3, which completes the behind-the-scenes photo collection of the video production.

It were three very intense but incredibly rewarding days. In theory, we had the whole mansion, including a whirl pool and TV room at our fingertips but for the duration of our 3-day stay we didn’t take breaks except to eat and sleep a handful of hours every morning.

We don’t recommend this long-term, but it allowed us to get the absolute most out of the venue in the short amount of time we were staying there … what a place it was!

Thankfully, the weather was on our side on the last day of filming, and we were able to film the outdoors scene for the solo during a dry few hours. AND it wasn’t cold for once! It was truly a video shoot where things were going better than expected all around πŸ˜‰

We finally wrapped up at 5 am in the morning, after filming the opening scene for the video in the entry hall of the estate!

We’re already itching to do the next big video production (we caught the bug again!) but it will have to wait a bit until we get more progress on the new album done.

  1. What a treasure trove! Echoing what everybody is saying here. What an amazing effort and accomplishment. Unparalleled.
Personally, I love to see all of Rudolf’s gadgets that give such an insight to such genius ingenuity.
I’d venture to say that Lisa wore the smiling mask…
    Thank you!

  2. 5 a.m.!? No wonder Mona tripped … and she made it look like nothing happened.

Also … everybody has a different, fine-looking dinner. And who’s the guy with green shoelaces?

  3. Wow wow wow and wow !! So many wonderful pics…I like the family pic on the staircase a lot…pic 89….and Mona I’d guess you were an airplane pilot with that uniform in pic 56 and I believe I’d let you β€œFly Me To The Moon”…hey that would be a wonderful upbeat song for the new Duo Sessions compilation……and Lisa you and that Duck are having too much fun in the tub….how did you ever get all that stuff..costumes and camera equipment and groceries and whatever else made the trip in just 2 vehicles ? Amazing !

  4. So much to enjoy here! I’m with JP in figuring you had something fluffy catching the intricate chess pieces. Wouldn’t wanna jeapordize your security deposit! As others said, the family pics are true treasures! I think a caption contest would be a real hoot! Maybe for some future club fun? I’d love to hear the Convo between the alien and Atlas. Maybe something like: so it’s a sharp left at Jupiter and bear right as soon as the Andromeda Cluster comes into view…..Thanks so much for sharing!

  5. Thank you so much for such incredible photos. It really means so much that you share your process with us. Makes me feel like you’re good friends I haven’t seen in a while instead of just a music fan on another continent. This set had a photo of each of you that qualify as my favorite ever. I imagine by the time you spend 3 days doing a video like this that you’re so sick of hearing the song that you never want to hear it again! Although in this case it was about 1 day of shooting and 2 days of changing clothes! LOL!

  6. I liked seeing a bit more of a view into how you get these great videos accomplished, the four of you in action with your equipment. I was intrigued with the camera dolly thing – pretty simple but very cool device. I also liked the pics of the four of you posing in that beautiful old house, including some really nice artsy photos. All that while busting your butts to get the video done.

A really great set of pics, one of your best.

  7. Loved the behind the scenes pictures! Especially the family pictures! It is so nice that you share these with us. Makes us feel special!

  8. Thanks for sharing all these photos – makes me feel like I’ve been on location with your family. All the scenes are so cleverly designed, and you all have such talent at taking pictures that tell the story. I absolutely love all the different Monas, but anytime Mona is on the drums is a big highlight for me. I hope Lisa didn’t get cold in the tub!
My favorite pictures are the wonderful shots of the whole family. You all look great and it’s really a Team(MLT) photo!

  9. I am in awe of your vision and team work. The planning alone must have been a a challenge. And the end product was flawless. I tip my hat and bow to each of you.

  10. Mona and Lisa and Pa and Michella
Thank you so much for sharing these treasures for us to see. The thing I love when you share with us is it feels like family to me. All us club members sitting around and loving the fact we can share time with you all and again just feels like family to me. We do that in our family, we look at photo’s from vacations or birthday party’s , weddings etc….and we just love the time we can share together. So i never commented on the first one from last week but the thing that Caught my eye was the various shots for Mona’s drum kit, wow I see it from time to time in video’s and the Lola video but the shots were so awesome to me. I have a 5 piece set and it is a Pearl set and going to buy a Gretech drum kit coming up soon in honor or Charlie Watts my hero. But everything in this video is so cool to me, the house, the different scenes and the animals on the wall singing was crazy cool!! Maddie loves animals and she loved that part a lot. Like I mentioned earlier that this song is another gem for the Mona Lisa Twins very catchy tune and words speak for them selves and I admire you both with how you handled the words and made it fun. Please keep it coming and STAY GROOVY

  11. Thanks for sharing these. It is amazing you are able to accomplish so much in three days. I am sure there was a gazillion hours of planning, but to complete filming in three days is beyond belief.

I love the shot of Rudi displaying his MLT pick. I think I did a similar pose when I got my first Orange pick. Nice! When I first saw Lisa clear the chess board I thought either that is their chess set, so they are not worried about any collateral damage, or there are pillows on the floor. Still, without the pillows it might have been a nice sound effect. Commander Mona looks very classy. I was just thinking when you get to play live shows again, Mona could go through a bunch of costume changes between sets just to keep the audience guessing. Of course, save the Royal Gown for the encore. And what would Toni Tennille say about that tub?

Thanks for all of the behind the scenes opportunities. It’s very interesting to watch your journey from idea to finished product. The four of you have created some true magic.

The family shots are super kool. I have to join in with everyone and say that you are a beautiful family.

    Oh, what a joy ride!

  12. Wow! Wow! Wow! Incredible photos! Capturing the true essence of the video shoot!
I see you had a visitor from Another World. Must have escaped from your Dreams Video to make a Special Appearance.
The rooftops look like something from Mary Poppins.
Careful Lisa, looks like Mona is considering pulling the plug on your bath water. Did the water get cold?
Love all the different looks from Mona. The Pope Rocked out in the 360 view.
All photos are Priceless. Especially the family Photos.

  13. Whoa, Loved all these photos, but my faves are the #KodakKeeperGems of the family photos, just being casual, relaxed… and Peacocks… there were actual Peacocks on the estate premises!?…. Wow on that, glad you captured those beauties. The camera cart on wheels for table scene, was a cool idea, the whole setup, from start to finish, what all went into creating, producing, etc to have a superb finished effort , was worth all of it, and the prime location. All #MLTBuzzLuvGroovified Awesome, Thankyou for sharing those 3 days with all of us. Kudos Team MLT, Immensely and thoroughly enjoyed looking at all the fab photos, it was as though I was on location too with you all, watching in person. ????????

  14. These behind the scenes photos are awesome, loved seeing them! So fascinating and cool to see you all in your elements with all the gear and setup making the video magic happen, like the little cart with camera on the table.

Mona you looked awesome in all the different characters, and loved the bishop/priest character rocking out on the guitar in that 3D scene outside, and Lisa the bathtub scene with all the rubber duckies is priceless. Really brings across the irony of the character so sweet and lovable and yet so ruthless. Magnificent chess set there, would love to play a game on that board. Looked like you took good care not to cause them any harm. The whole mansion setting is so full of character and elegant, what a beautiful place you chose for the video.

It’s incredible how you can pull together such a brilliant and professional video production without any outside help, all through your own superb skills and ingenuity. Team MLT is a remarkable creative force. Whoever cooked the dinner, the food looked absolutely delicious! Thanks again for taking the time to do these behind the scenes, so enjoyable to see! Loved it. πŸ™‚

  15. For that amount of production, you guys really put a lot into 3 days of work. I don’t see how you all do it! Great pictures and the little green man is even there watching, LOL.

  16. AWESOME! I’ll post again later, but I wanted to be the first to offer praise for the waycool eight-wheeled camera trolley/dolly! Looks so polished, and you oughta patent it, Rudolf!
