Sound Of Silence – New Video
Hello (darkness) my old friend …
We would like to share a new video with you today. This one is from our second “season” of Duo Session videos that we release monthly over at the MLT Club. We were so excited to finally do a new Simon & Garfunkel cover!
All their songs lend themselves perfectly for an acoustic Duo Session, but we chose “Sound Of Silence”, possibly Simon & Garfunkel’s biggest and most beloved song. We remember singing it with our school choir and being spellbound by its gorgeous harmonies.
It surprises us to say this, but this song means so much more to us now that we have spent so many hours singing, practising and then ultimately recording it.
It’s one of those songs that we felt we knew inside out for years, but every time we would play it in preparation of this Duo Session the words and meaning would deepen a little. By the end, we almost understood its true meaning 😉
New Original Music
If you would like to support the making of more Duo Sessions like this and watch plenty more of them, you can always join us over at the MLT Club. We have 28 more Duo Sessions uploaded with more in the making as we speak!
We also just released a new original single there last week called “I Bought Myself A Politician”. We will start working on a video for it soon but if you’d already like to hear it and what it’s about, you’ll find it in the MLT Club, too!
Great harmony!! You ladies need to come to Canada!!!!
you two are like wine. Getting better when get older
I totally love the songs you sing. Thank you for sharing this.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️????
Im blown away by this , I did not want it to end , magnificent , stunning harmonies thank you for sharing
I think that song suits the sisters beautifully.
Do they do an achapello version ?
Monalisa. It’s good performance! Much equally with the original by Simon & Garfunkel.
Will we be able to hear your take on Ticket To Ride in the near future?
Very Very good!
A cover version worthy of the original, Ladies. The lyrics resonate today as much as they did when Paul Simon wrote them. S & G’s album of the same name, which I bought on release in 1966, has some powerful tracks, any of which you could choose to bring your vision of them to the 21st Century, whilst keeping the thoughts of the original, a talent which you bring to all your cover versions.
As well as being a writer of World class, it’s a forgotten fact that Paul Simon was one of the greatest exponents of the acoustic guitar, someone with few rivals, and in that regard, it should be said that Lisa more than holds her own in her rendition.
Great Job Ladies.
I love the clarity of your diction on this and all your songs. Well done! You also ‘feel the words’ when you sing. So refreshing, thank you.
I Know I have posted a comment on this beautiful cover, but the way you both do the crescendo of this song ( meaning going from soft to build up singing and playing) is absolutely fabulous. And very emotional and glad I had tissues handy, you both deliver the goods once again. Thank you both for sharing the love and spirit of your craft.
God Bless
Bill and Maddie Isenberg huge fans from Pittsburgh Pa Usa
Very fine!
Wow!
When I saw that you had recorded this, I was at first most dubious. This is one of my all-time favourites. I’ve loved your other songs – but you aren’t going to be up to singing Sounds of Silence
I am delighted to say that when I heard the recording, it was love at first sight! Or rather hearing. You clearly approached this song with great respect and great love – and that love shines through!
an usual, excellent. thank you.
i strive to be as talented as one of your little fingers.
I love your music including some fabulous covers. My youngest used to think Paul and Artie were covering my songs (including The Sounds of Silence, and Homeward Bound) and I had to explain that “Simon & Garfunkel” are stars, but after listening to you play Beatles and John S., I said I would love to hear you play Simon and Garfunkel. I am thrilled. You two (and sometimes a man called Rudolf who smiles like you and is also an exceptional musician) are amazing musicians and your harmonies are beautiful. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us. I’ll continue “To Follow the Sun” & MLT.
exept for The Beatles That the song i love so much ,the message is so profond , i love you girl, before the pest i was going to Liverpool just to try to see you girl ,,,,
The voices of Angels, so sweet and pure. Simply brilliant cover of a great song.
Great cover !! One of my favorite songs
Nicely done ladies. Sung true to the heart. Beautiful. You two are an inspiration.
I love you’re music and beautiful voices
My favourite cover of yours (and that’s saying something as you’ve done some fantastic covers!) The harmonies fit perfectly, you truly are the S&G for the new generation. Can’t wait to see what comes next, stay groovy!! ????
Hi girls, what a great cover, blew my mind, in the nicest possible way, love the bass playing, I was a bassist myself many years ago.
Respect as always, love George
Beautiful oh those woises ????
I really like the way you two did The Sounds of Silence, it is so true these times we endure. What about doing ‘Miss You’ by the Rolling Stones? Can I make a request? For my birthday? Maybe, Please! Just kidding. I know what it takes to get permission then actually try pulling it all together. But I just put it out there, didn’t I? You two and your band are the greatest thing since ‘Apple Pie’ and smiling.
Simon&garfunkel <3
Beautiful
Absolutely beautiful ! Your voices are incredible !
Beautiful!
A beautiful rendition. You two are amazing!
So nice. Great job ladies. You are a pure joy!
Beautiful. More bass please. 🙂
Stunning and well done girls !!. One of my favourite and one of the first I learned on the piano.
Lovely rendition of SOS, girls!
Absolutely stunning, I have always loved this song your voices are Beautiful.
Made my spine tingle. How you’re not on TV music channels is beyond comprehension. Wish I’d got to see you at the Cavern.
And then there were 3..
Simon&Garfunkel,Disturbed and Now Yours. I enjoy elements of all versions!
Did you two even practice for that one?!? I don’t think so because it sounded so natural that it seemed as if the two of you just rolled that one out as some kind of inspired creation of the moment. Thank You for taking the time to do such an inspired and clearly well rehearsed tribute to Paul and Art’s beautiful protest to man’s headlong rush into technology. From the BEAUTIFUL harmony to the flawless rendition I was mesmerized. One question though: what is that instrument that Mona is playing bass on? An bass ukulele with an pickup? Never Saw One Bee Four! lol (The Whoo) (the girls were gorgeous as usual too! How about a swimsuit edition? :- )
Wonderful! Took me back in time. Thank you.
I’m getting old!I like songs that actually have a tune.I like songs that have words I can understandI like the Mona Lisa Twins. Thanks for your work!!What an absolutely perfect and beautiful version of this classic. I concur with other comments in that you have just made this song your own, as with so many others you perform.
I was completely blown away and listened to it a few times over, mainly with my eyes shut – I was swept away by your voices – as usual.
Wow again hope you two tour Australia when the world calms down.
Lovely version
You guys are awesome!
Love your sound!
very well done…neat guitars..
Yay, beautiful…:)
Extraordinary rendition. You made the song your own. Love it xxx
Stunning and brilliant girls, well done fabulous cover
I shut my eyes and it was great well done both of you
Awesome! Great job with the tambourine.
Holy smoke, that brought tears to my eyes! I’ve always loved this song, but you girls took it to a whole new level. I’m speechless.
I noticed you placed an emphasis on the word “Fools” similar to the way Art Garfunkel performed it at the 1967 Monterey Pop Festival. Just FYI I have lived most of my life on the Monterey Peninsula and I was 7 in 1967. I was blissfully unaware that the Monterey Pop Festival was happening just over the hill but I remember my parents complaining about all of the hippies who had come to town for something. My wife, who was 12 at the time did attend the festival with a church youth group that had come down from Burlingame (near San Francisco). She still has vivid memories of Janis Joplin.
Great harmonies, great accompaniment and great video! Well done 🙂
Really great as usual. Thank you for your wonderful music.
Ja, genau so denk ich auch!
The subtle dynamics surrounded by an epic landscape of emotions; dark moody, vibrant uplifting, sad solemn, joyous,,, so deeply defining of the human experiences. Well done ladies.
What a great cover , I love it .
Absolutely beautiful. Doesn’t seem that long ago I turned 27. In three weeks I turn 71. Thanks for the music.
Magic! Moment of absolute beauty, time stands still. That’s what this feels like, when one of the most beautiful songs ever written is performed by you both. You do this song sublime justice, love it. Thanks for enabling me to re-experience the beauty of this song again.
As always, I truly enjoy your interpretations of all these old classics.
Excellent job
Great Version. I was a teenager in New York State USA when I heard this song by Simon and Garfunkel

Wonderful another great cover
Love this interpretation, Mona and Lisa. Well done.
Fabulous
A beautiful cover of one of the most mystical and ethereal songs ever written. Only the Mona Lisa Twins could achieve this. Brilliant!
One of my top five favorite songs of all time! A wonderful rendition, and a wonderful surprise for a Sunday morning! Thank you so much!
Very sweet and powerful version. Loved the music and harmonies. Classic, but your own. From Tonawanda, NY
Thank you, Ladies, and a very happy birthday to you! 27? (Wish I could remember that far back!)
Is there a chance you’ll be at Beatle Week 2021? You are still in the UK, yes?
Dennis in Harrogate, N. Yorkshire
I remember when I found your music a couple years ago I thought this would be a perfect song for you. It’s one of my favorites and you did it splendidly. I love your music and this is one of your best covers. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Very well done as usual.
Beautiful and wonderful harmony as usual.
And I’m so glad to find a very unique accompaniment style of guitar and ukulele, sounds good though.
From a Japanese fan
I just adore these girls. I’m 71 and grew up with this music and it is so refreshing to hear their versions. Well done. And I love their videos as well – so creative and original.
Is that a bass ukulele?
Yes! It’s a “U-bass” by the Californian brand Kala. They are small but mighty, we love ours 🙂
Most certainly a beloved Simon and Garfunkel song and equally beautiful spellbinding harmonies from the Mona Lisa Twins. Love it!
Love this song & love this version. x
Fantastic as always.
Beautiful and wonderful. Greetings from Monterrey, México!!
I once heard a definition:
“When we listen to the same song with a different singer and we feel great pleasure, it’s because the performance is so wonderful.”
This is also my definition for the Mona Lisa Twins singing Sound Of Silence.
I loved the arrangement and the harmony. Well done. I am fascinated by the bass you played. I have never seen one that small.
That is a ukulele bass. Becomming very popular with the acoustic scene
typically wonderful
Beautiful ladies!!!
Such a beautiful sound. You guys harmonise perfectly. Stunning.
Absolutely beautiful girls!
Beautiful
You two make every song you sing very special! ????????????
One of the most profound songs to have come out of the 60’s pop/protest movement, and you two have absolutely nailed it. Flawless harmony, beautiful acoustic guitar arrangement, and passionate voices that deeply enrich the meaning behind the lyrics.
A sad song from my generation.
Beautiful job!
Great song, and a great cover from you both. Greetings from Sweden!
Simply beautiful.
Fantastic as always girls your heart and souls goes into your music love IT all please keep it coming
Just lovely!! Even Paul & Artie couldn’t bring that sibling thing to their harmony.
Love it
Just a sexy beautiful song!
Magnificent! As always ladies.
Wow!!
Fabulous
Just wunderful!!
Excellent comme d’habitude!!
talk about taking me back to the good ole days. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
What an absolutely beautiful rendition of one of the greatest songs of all time. Heavenly voices that meld so wonderfully.
Outstanding ladies , that’s all I can say !
Who could not love this duo and their renditions of great songs?
beautiful rendition – loved it!
Well done, ladies! Excellent guitar and bass playing with an added tambourine boot! Feel free to take more liberty with the melody. Make it your own.
Beautiful vocals
Yes the drums were a overdub from the original. I was a drummer back in the 60’s This song with descent bass does not need any percussion! Rock on twins !!
Lovely. Thank you. Joe
beautiful!
Brilliant cover. Great voices for a great song.
Excellent. A very lovely song
Geweldig. Een prachtige uitvoering van dit lied.
The MonaLisa Twins are very beautiful and Talented Musicians. I am waiting for next DVF or CD thxs Rocky
Excellent!
How about my favourite, The Boxer? I am sure you will Ace it!
It’s a tempting suggestion and we’d love to do it one day!
Beautifully done. How about a Simon and Garfunkel album from you two ladies. I can think of no-one to do it better.
Fabulous
This is one of your best ever cover songs I think, the Harmonies are so sublime and blend together beautifully, as always, and the base is so distinct and amazing too. It is also one of my favourite songs ever. Simon and Garfunkel couldn’t fail to be blown away by your version of their song, for sure.
Echt schön! Bin ganz hin und weg!
Und wenn ich dann völlig dahingeschmolzen bin, schnapp ich mir eine Gitarre und spiel mit.
You’ve managed to invoke that special feeling I always got when I listened to the original Sound of Silence. I always liked the version without the drums better. I had heard that the record company added the drums on the album without Simon and Garfunkel’s knowledge.
You are correct about the drum overdub….I was a drummer in the 60’s & with this song though with solid bass, percussion was not needed ! Rock on Twins.
I am part of an electronic music duo, and I am a huge fan of your music Even though your music and mine are different, you inspire me to keep making music. Thanks so much for what you do.
Beautiful music by incredibly talented and beautiful women. Thank you
Look up the version by “disturbed”, then you’ll know what the song is all about.
Very well done, Ladies. Beautiful harmonies.
A very enjoyable and respectful rendition. Your harmony is and always has been a delight to listen to. You covered the song so people could understand the lyrics. The only thing different from the original was that -the original felt like it was coming from one soul-yours came from your heart. Nothing wrong with your performance-it was perfect.-just that one difference. I’m old enough to remember listening to the original when it was new. Thanks for the memory.
Absolutely georgeous! You did this classic song with heart. It doesn’t get any better than that! God bless you both.
You ladies are so talented I would love to see you live , let’s hope you can play live very soon , I will keep looking out for when you can keep up the great work.
One of my favorite S&G songs. Lovely rendition.
A very enjoyable and respectful rendition of a classic song. You did it justice.
I would say Bridge over Troubled Water is the S&G song, but this is a great song and beautifully covered.
I love your rendition of this and delighted myself by singing along with it. Thank you
Well girls you have nailed yet another cover. Absolutely gorgeous track
