How to edit my profile?

There are plenty of things you can fill out about yourself on your profile page. You can share more about yourself, your interests and love for music.

Clicking your name in the top right corner and then selecting “profile” will take you to your profile page. If you then click the grey “Edit” button you will reach a page where you can fill out however much you want to. Don’t forget to hit “save” after each section!

Privacy Settings

Almost all fields you can fill out will let you choose your preferred privacy settings right underneath. It was important for us to offer this possibility! Here is what they mean:

Public – Anyone who visits the MonaLisa Twins website can see this
All Members – Only MLT Club Members can see this
My Connections – Only MLT Club Members whose connection request you accepted can see this
Only Me – Only you (and team MLT) can see this

My Name & Nickname

These three fields are the only ones that are pre-filled for everyone upon purchasing a membership but you can still make adjustments.

General Information

The Birthday field is important to fill out if you would like to receive a little surprise on your birthday. It will come to you through your inbox of the email address used to sign up to the MLT Club.

Please fill out My Location if you want to show up on the Members Map. On that map other MLT Club members can see your entered location. This is a great way to connect with nearby MLT Club members. You do NOT need to enter your home address and can be as vague or as specific as you feel comfortable with. For example, if you only enter the name of your town, the map will place you in the middle of it. Please always select one of the location points suggested by the website once you start typing your address. Otherwise the map will not pick it up. If your privacy settings are “only me” you will also not show up on the map.

Me & MLT

Here you can fill out things like how you first came across our music, what your favourite MLT song is, etc.

My Favourites (Besides MLT ;-))

Here you can fill out things about yourself that don’t have anything to do with the MLT Club or our music. Let us and other members get to know you!

My Social Media Links

Enter your Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Pinterest or WhatsApp account in case you want to give other members the opportunity to find you there.

Profile Photo

We encourage every member to upload a profile photo. Especially if you tend to comment on posts or in the forum it is so much nicer to have faces to the users. It makes it so much easier for us and other members to remember you!

If you don’t feel comfortable sharing your face, perhaps you find something else to represent you, like a pet or comic character. 🙂

Cover Photo

The cover photo will show up as the header image to your profile page. It’s great to give your profile some personality and show more of what you’re all about. 1950 x 450px are the ideal dimensions.

  1. Hi Mona and Lisa I filled in my profile when I joined in November 2022 Including my Birthday . I’m wondering if something went wrong as I didn’t hear from you.

    1. Michael, did you check your spam / junk mail folder? I had the same issue when I joined the club, and it turned out that’s where the birthday message went.

      1. Spam tends to get deleted automatically after a month – so you may have to wait until next time! But belated Happy Birthday and many happy returns!

  2. Being a newer member I don’t know what it was like before but this is very well set up. So many cool little rabbit holes. I spend hours watching the older videos like the Q&As, or On the Table or even the old advent calendars. I only wish I could listen to the Surprise Jukebox while navigating through the rest of the club. Maybe I can and I’m not smart enough to figure it out. Wouldn’t surprise me. Any Help?

      1. Yep, I made a MLT playlist on YouTube so I can open that in a different window. It works well but sometimes I forget to open it and if I want to listen to something in the club I have to pause the playlist. No biggie really. Thanks Michael.

      2. Can you not open it in a seperate tab (or window) in your browser?

I’m doing it now and it works fine – probably only works for laptops and PCs though.

(Right-click Jukebox and select Open link in new tab)

      1. Thanks David. It absolutely works that way on my PC. I appreciate the help. Someday I’ll get the hang of this internet thingy. Peace my friend.

    2. If you are on a PC, you can create a shortcut that will take you directly to the page you want. Let me know if that sounds like what you want, it’s just a couple of steps to set it up.

      1. Thanks for the reply Dennis. I was able to open it in another window on my PC. Appreciate the help. So many cool people in the club. Peace.

  3. I’m intrigued by the ‘public’ setting in some of the profile fields. Where would this info be shown as I assume ‘public’ is people who are not logged in to the MLT Club? Otherwise it would be no different from selecting ‘All Members’?

Another query relates to whether there are varying default permissions applied which are different for each field so you can’t just assume they are all set to ‘Only Me’ or ‘Public’ unless you specifically choose a different permission level?

Under Social Media links, these are all to social media platforms only. Would it worth expanding this to allow links to members websites if they had any?

    1. Hi Allan,

Public means it can be seen by any website visitor that finds a way to your profile page. Doesn’t even have to be logged-in, so basically everybody. You can check it out for yourself by visiting the website when you are not logged-in or in an incognito window and for instance clicking on an avatar of a commenter. That will lead you to its profile page where you can see every fields that are public.

You can also save the URL to your own profile page, log-out and then visit the saved URL to see what everybody potentially can see and experiment with these settings.

The profile fields and the default permissions are set according to the results of a survey we did amongst members a few month ago. We chose the fields and settings that got the most votes with a slight preference for more privacy when results were close. Website link did not get any votes so we didn’t include it.

      1. Hi Rudi, Thanks very much for the information. I’ll try out the public view to see what it looks like and adjust things if necessary.

      2. I gave it a go and it works as you suggested, i.e. If I go to one of my shop item reviews I can then click on my name and see the public parts of the profile. The only field which seemed slightly suspect was location which is visible publicly despite my setting being All Members.

      3. Hi Allan,

You discovered a real bug. After you stated the All Members setting seems slightly suspect, I was testing all the privacy settings of location and only Only Me and Public were working correctly, My Connections and All Members were not.

I reported that issue to the developer of the Map for Members plugin and they could fix it in relatively short time.

  4. I am enjoying the new features you have implemented.
Did you ever imagine that you would reach such a wide range of people and so far around the globe when you first started out?
I appreciate the close connection you maintain with your club members. I don’t feel like a number, I feel like you actually know me a little bit and who I am. That you go to those lengths is humbling to me and makes me feel special.
God Bless you lovely ladies. You made a fan forever.💛❤️

    1. Hi Tim,

Our problem was rather that we knew Austria is not the country with our taste of music and we somehow have to find our audience in English speaking language areas. At that time YouTube came to the rescue and helped us to find people all over the world that liked what we do.

While that was really great it also presented some problems that our audience is spread all over the planet because it makes playing local events or planning tours not especially easy and financially worthwhile.

That was one of the reasons we decided to make the MLT-Club were we can meet friends of our music from all over the world and they can also meet each other in a friendly environment.

We are still experimenting and trying to find new ways to accomplish that goal because this is mostly uncharted territory we are moving in. Glad you seem to like it so far and happy that you joined us on that exciting journey.

      1. Mr. Wagner (Papa Rudi):

I both appreciated and enjoyed your response to Tim Johnson. Your reply really made me think: Yes Team MLT is quite in a unique situation when it comes to the exposure to the MonaLisa Twins music and the vast expanse of your fan base.

Moving to the UK from Austria several years ago was an outstanding move. It had to be emotional leaving your homeland. You went to the location in which MLTs music would have an appeal to the masses, as well to tourists who visit Liverpool. The successful residency at the Cavern Club as well as visits to the BBC are proof of this. Also, by moving to the UK, Mona and Lisa have had the opportunity to perfect English, which they have successfully accomplished.

I completely understand all of you wondering, “Since our fan base is so wide, where do we go next? When?” It is a difficult question, especially when costs and such are put into play. Those are questions that Mona, Lisa, Michaela, and you will answer…when you are ready. In the meantime, MLT is moving forward in a successful manner and we, as club members, are appreciating and are enjoying the results.

When it is time for you to visit a new country, may I suggest Canada. This is coming from an American, abiet one who lives very close to the border. The following are reasons why I believe that Canada would be a good place:

        1. The country’s alignment with “all things British” since it is part of the Commonwealth.
        2. The country’s continued fascination with The Beatles and other UK based groups of the 1960s.
        3. The plethora of indie radio stations compared to the United States.
        4. The CBC, a public radio/television network fashioned after The BBC. “Q” hosted by Tom Power is an example of a genre that would work nicely. They have done several shows via Zoom and such…this may be a good way to get an initial toe hold.

Thank you so much for all your efforts with Mona and Lisa. It is very easy to see that they have been raised well…as a teacher, I can tell you that this is a result of having great parents. You and Michaela have done wonderfully. Finally, thank you so much for everything that you do for all us MLT Club members. It is nice to be part of the journey and we “got your back”, so to speak.

Keep on “slapping the bass” and doing everything that you do.
