Saying Thanks & Advent Calendar Announcement

We did it!

Note: Because we had to post this video a week later than we intended to due to server issues, some of the things we mention don’t make 100% sense. For example, the album has now been our for 2 weeks, not 1, etc

It’s such a relief and amazing feeling knowing that WHY? is now officially out. You all have helped make this release a big success and we couldn’t be happier with it! We just had to film another video to say thank you in person and to have a little catch-up.

Our work this year is far from over and we have a lot of plans until 2022 comes to an end!

In the second half of today’s video we talk about our ideas for this year’s Advent Calendar and we need your help! Click the button below to submit your entries and read up on all the details. We’re very curious about the things you’ll send in and will not watch anything until we turn on the cameras in December! πŸ™‚

Another note related to the Advent Calendar:

For this year’s Christmas livestream (on the 23rd) we want to switch up the program and drop the on-camera present-opening. One of the reasons being that over the years we’ve been getting more and more parcels, and it takes more time each year to open all of them. What an amazing “problem” to have, we know πŸ˜…. But because we want to keep the live stream as entertaining and eventful as possible, we want to be able to spend more time on other segments like playing music, answering your questions or interacting with the stream. For those that don’t send anything (which is the majority) we are worried that a 2 hour parcel opening session might get a little boring.

We also don’t want to run the risk of disappointing people by not being able to spend an equal amount of time on every parcel we open if there is a lot to get through. Then there are always a few parcels that arrive after Christmas, so more potential disappointment there.

But mainly, we don’t want our livestream to focus too much on gifts and YOU doing things for US, but we rather want it to be the other way round. Let us do the entertaining 😁. We think it will be more enjoyable for all livestream participants to have a more music-related content that everyone will be able to relate to.

Stay groovy,
Mona & Lisa

  1. I love how every video has perfect lighting, no matter if it’s simple or complicated they always look perfect. Color coordinated for the theme as well. It may be a scratchy sweater, but the emerald twins look fab!

  2. Fashionably late to the party. I will, as every year, be working Christmas Day so can’t join your livestream. Working December 25 is from choice in my case but isn’t an option for many who will be working on the 25th. Can I ask you all to spare a couple of minutes to think of those who *have* to work over Christmas?

    1. Yes, the livestream will be on the 23rd! Sorry, we completely forgot to mention that in the text, I just added it. The 24th is β€œour” Christmas (that’s when people in Austria celebrate it) and the 25th is most other people’s, so we’ve always been doing the livestream on the 23rd to make it easier for everyone to join. Maybe you’re off work that day? Fingers crossed!

  3. Oh, and the advent calendar idea…wonderful! but… POOR Michaela! I trust you’re planning on shoulder/neck/back massages and an increased regimen of vitamins and caffeine to help her through the hours of poring over submitted content! I hope I can come up with something worthy of airing without adding too much to her task!

    1. A couple of hours ago I heard her laugh out loud from her office several times, and when I asked what she was watching so I can join in, she said it was advent submissions and she can’t tell. So I think it’s looking promising so far! πŸ˜‰

  4. As for the Christmas Livestream changes go, I understand your decision to omit the live gift-opening, even though I personally will miss it dearly. It’s the element that most makes me feel like we’re all sitting together in one room sharing Christmas morning with a big, loving family, and seeing the variety of thoughtful gifts your MLT Club friends send is always heartwarming. But just the sheer number of gifts you will receive, especially considering all the new members who will probably send some, would make the exercise daunting, indeed. It would be inappropriate to only open a select few, for fear of disappointing those whose gifts weren’t chosen. I do relish the opportunity for more interaction (even though I’m a painfully slowπŸ™typist)and of course, more live music! My family used to celebrate Christmas a day early and I bet some other families do, so a livestream including all elements simply wouldn’t fit everyone’s schedule, even though I’d watch indefinitely as long as it didn’t overlap with my family Christmas festivities! It would also be completely unfair of us clubbers to expect so much more time from you, taking away from the time you should be allowed to spend with your immediate family on this most holy of holidays. You are already so amazingly generous in that regard.

  5. I’m a bit late posting to this, but the Neve “Pretty Little Thing” video is AMAZING and perfect! I agree that you’d have to be very careful making videos for both “Why?” and “Jump Ship” just because the imagery they inspire can vary so widely in each listener’s psyche. However, the same can be said for “Make Show”, and you knocked that out of the park, so if you have instinctual ideas for their videos, I say Go For It! “Janitor Joe” would be awesome as a computer-animated video, but being technically challenged myself, I don’t know if that would be easier or harder than live-action videography. Maybe a hybrid of both styles? No doubt the technical wizardry you all possess would make the end result marvelous! Obviously, I eagerly await any video you produce of any song on “Why?”!

  6. I’d love to see a video of the poignant, delicate, elegantly crafted “Any Other Day,” but, wow, how to understate the poignant delicacy and somehow tell the story of things that didn’t happen. If anybody can do it, it’s you guys.

  7. Mona, your scratchy sweater reminds me of the Beatlesque pinstripe, stovepipe pants I bought one winter in the 1960s. But yikes! The cold wind blew through them as if I were wearing no pants at all, and they were so itchy I wished I were wearing no pants at all. They were OK after I got some long underwear. And I have avoided acrylic clothing ever since.

  8. I don’t know if I can submit any videos, etc. because I don’t have time to watch YouTube myself. I can’t imagine how weary Michaela will be after all that! But it will be fun watching you watch them, whatever they are.
In terms of songs for videos, I’m torn about Jump Ship. On the one hand, it’s so packed with imagery, both literal and metaphorical, that it just screams video. On the other hand, it’s so provocatively written, that the imagery evoked in the imagination might be better left alone.
In any case, what I’d really love to see is a video entirely done with animation by the consummate artists that are Mona and Lisa. Of course, that would take a bit of time…

  9. I would love to see videos on the rest of the songs on “Why”, but I think a few would be a bit tricky. My favorite for videos to start with would be “Any Other Day”.

I love the song “Why”; I’m not sure how you would do a video of it, but you always seem to find a way. Perhaps you could add give a free club membership for anyone who volunteered to be a test pilot for a “Janitor Joe” video? And I’d love to see the Twins jump off a ship, but you might want to go south a bit to do it – the North Sea doesn’t look very inviting. Perhaps a visit to Australia, and while there you could also do a “Summer Rain” video.

  10. When we get into the fall months I start looking forward to the Advent Calendar more than anything. I think you are spot on by changing the format to make it more interactive with the one thing we all love more than anything here….your music. Now Im getting excited to be here every day to interact with your girls. Thanks for all you do for us. In regards to the new album, Raise your Hand is my fav. It’s so bluesy and beautiful and Im pretty sure you took a page out of SRV’s book…. I definitely hear some of that flavor in that song. But honstly, there are at least 5 songs that could be my fav’s. How is the sales of the new album going?

  11. First of all, great job on fixing this site. I am maneuvering around really good. It is the fastest I can move around since I joined the Club 10 months ago. I am enjoying being with you so much.
I am so happy for you that the new album is doing so good. I am still constantly trying to introduce your music to as many people as I can – relatives, friends and even strangers lol.
I purchased two of your new CD so I can have a spare copy.
Looking forward to seeing some more music videos. They are always top notch. If I had to choose a couple to do next, I would say Destination Sunrise and Any Other Day.
    Cheers and take good care.
    Bobby S.

  12. I LOVE this new album! Your music speaks volumes and it makes me very happy to listen to all of your music. Every song is well written, expertly performed and expertly produced. Thank you MLT for all that you have done and are doing! Your presence in this world makes the world a brighter, better place! Thank you!

  13. Ah, due to my inability sometimes, to make my myself understood in what I was trying to convey, let me rephrase my inquiry question…

As for Submissions, is there a specific time limit factor we have on the video entries and are we allowed to submit an entry everyday during this time, whether it be a video, poem , artwork, etc and/or is it a strictly one time entry for the entire duration of Advent Calendar from each member !? ….mThat is how I wanted to covey my question , in first place…lol… for some reason, the EDIT button sometimes appears on here or it doesn’t …lol so I had to Repost separately ….

    1. Hi Jacki!
You can already start submitting and we haven’t put any limitations on the entries. You will also be able to keep submitting any new ideas throughout December, but if you do it earlier Michaela has more time to look through them which would make it easier on her!

  14. I never cease to be amazed at the new ideas Mona and Lisa come up with for the Advent calendar every year! Honestly, I half expected that they might take this Advent off after the monumental work put into the new album. But I am delighted that we will still have our Advent calendar – I look forward to it every year!

Reaction videos are a really neat idea! I can hardly wait to see what all of you submit! And what a great way for us to get to know Mona and Lisa even better as we see their reactions. They give themselves so generously!

As for videos from the album songs, I will be excited to see any of the songs in video form. It is hard to pick one over another, but Destination Sunrise might be my first pick, or Jump Ship, or Another Other Day, or Why, or…!!!

  15. Well, I would love to see videos for all the songs as they are ALL fantastic.

    • Any Other Day as a Duo Session? I’d love to see the old “Pietro” come out again, could it work for this song?
    • Jump Ship video in the style of a-ha, Take On Me? Not an easy task though.

    Can’t wait for December!

  16. I forgot to add …. are we allowed to submit more than one entry or just one entry per member ?!… I have plenty creative notions now swirling in my head …lolπŸ˜‰πŸ™ƒ

    1. That’s an excellent question, Jacki, and I hope MLT weighs in on it. But if not, consider this. Suppose 200 club members each submit a total of an hour’s worth of videos. Then Michaela would need to process five hours of videos every day for the next 40 days! Of course she may just sample each one here and there rather than watch it in its entirety. But lacking further information, I think I’d keep my total contributions well under an hour.

      1. Perhaps, I didn’t quite word my inquiry question correctly… I meant as in was there a specific limitation to entry submissions as I know it was stated the content factor was “open -reign” for submission, lol… I wasn’t meaning for members to submit an hours worth of stuff as you mention …lol.. No, I meant as in could we submit one entry per day during the Advent Calendar run( yes, making it under an hours worth, maybe 5-10 mins max for the reasons you mentioned, the time factor element or, just allowed one time entry , that is what I was meaning to ask but I guess I did not explain myself well, got misunderstood ….whoops ….

  17. Ooohhhh… Love this concept Advent Calendar 2022 …my imagination of creative inspiration already starting to accelerate what I can let to submit …. yes, indeed…Going to be a HumdingerDustyDandy LifeStream Advent Calendar 2022.. I can sebse the success of it already.. . You betcha …Am looking forward it …. still going to livestream around 10 PM UK time !?… ( That’s 5-6 PM my time in Canada )

    1. Jacki, it’s going to be the biggest, coolest, grooviest party of the year! I can’t wait either! πŸ˜€πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘

  18. I actually wanted to suggest you doing reaction videos before, so I think it’s a wonderful idea! I agree that opening gifts on the livestream kind of bogs it down so let’s have more of just you girls being you! As for videos of the new album there’s so many good songs that I am happy to let you pick what you want to do!

  19. So great to have you back again! Last Saturday I really felt there was something missing from my morning as no MLT!I can understand your decision not to open parcels on the livestream however I found it really did reflect the spirit of Christmas and was a great way to get in the mood for my own festivities and it was really interesting to see what people all over the world had sent you – very entertaining and great fun. Also I think it was great that we were able to do things for you for once after all the amazing things you have done for us during the year.

  20. Hi Ladies, my congratulation to the release of the great album “Why! I heard it several times now on my stereo set, and it was overwhelming me. You all did a phantastic job! I wish you a good hand further for all the things to come. Love Frank

  21. Live Stream Live Music Best present ever, looks like Any Other Day is a fan favorite , that song been in my head since the first day I heard it. I agree with Jung that song would be a good Duo Session, If You Raise Your Head would be my pick for next video. All In all the whole album is a Treasure.

  22. So glad that the initial weeks of “WHY?” have gone so well. Also I am happy that you are planning to do a few Duo Sessions in the future. Those performances always allow us to appreciate your true musicianship.

Looking forward to the Advent and to the livestream on December 23. I watched last year’s livestream on Christmas Eve as we were wrapping some final gifts and it was such a fun experience. This year, I am looking forward to being there live. Maybe a repeat of “Gypsy Jam” will be planned. Really enjoyed watching you play that song.

I completely understand why you have decided not to open your gifts during the livestream. It will give you more time to interact with all of us. Will send a gift to you (some music) and I hope that you will enjoy it. The artist in question was in his “Inner Beatle” stage.

As for videos to make for “WHY?”, ladies choice. Just don’t forget the “Behind the Scenes” videos as well. Those are such fun to watch and allows us to appreciate even more the process.

Thinking of a video to send you for your reaction. Think I have one…as a hint…has to do with a famous dog of my favorite breed of dog. A very nice story.

Already sent it!!! Enjoy it Michaela!!!

  23. You guys are so gracious and humble – that’s why you are so loved by your fans. Speaking of reaction videos there are several youtube sites that do reaction to your videos. They are super positive. As for doing videos of the album, my choices would be Janitor Joe, Any other Day, and Pretty Little Thing (think I know who it’s about). You guys are so much fun. LuvYa Dbya. Stay groovy. Peace be.

  24. Advent Calendar Yay! Any song from your album would make a great video, but if I had to pick a favorite it would be β€œWhy?”. Love it! Also, this is the first time since joining the MLT Club that I got to hear an original album hot off the press, and it was a joy! Thanks to all of you who makes this happen! Great Music from Great People.

  25. My favorite song: The Girl I Knew Somwhere by The Monkees.
Runner Up: My How The Time Goes By by Chad and Jeremy.

I would LOVE to hear MLT cover these!

    Patrick

  26. Hello Ladies!
What an interesting concept for the Advent Calander. Looking forward to being joyously entertained during the Live Stream.
Of course there will be Little Christmas Parcel making its annual trek across the pond, and hoping it doesn’t get placed in Solitary anymore.
    I will give one clue.
Spike and I (aka Mark) have come up with a unique one of a kind, never before seen or delivered to anyone.
There are 3 of these designs, for the 3 Ladies. There will be a special something for Papa Rudi of course, that has to do with Data.
    Ok enough clues.
    Best always
    Rick

  27. Great video idea for the advent calendar this year. I have definitely got something in mind and will be planning / filming it this weekend to upload soon.
Not going to tell what the theme is yet, but connects 100% with the new WHY? album.

  28. Hi Mona and Lisa, the Advent Calendar idea sounds awesome. I will have to get my creative juices and ideas flowing to submit for the Advent. Your Advent Calendar is such a joy every year now that I look forward to all through the year. I love how every Advent is always very different, you always add your creativity to it, never repeating yourselves! I love that.

For a song from WHY? to do a video for, my vote would be in order of preference:
    1..WHY?
2..Any Other Day. I think would be ideal for a Duo Session.
    3..Jump Ship

Of course any of the songs from the album to do a video would be awesome. You just can’t go wrong here every song on the album is so brilliant. I recall you mentioned you took some video footage for the new Neve song, so would love to see a video for Pretty Little Thing too. That’s such a sweet and charming song.

Thank you so much for these continuous golden nuggets of beauty and joy. πŸŽΆπŸ’•πŸ˜Š

    Have a fabulous week!
    Jung

    1. BTW, regarding not doing the gift opening session in the livestream, no worries. It makes sense to maximize the enjoyment for everyone all around given that will be more meaningful for the ones who sent something.

  29. Great to see you back on schedule because each video (whatever it is) is done very well and always with tons of joy and laughter. So glad to hear you will continue the Advent Calendar tradition. Very much enjoyed the others you have done. The “Reaction” idea/theme should be very entertaining and I am sure each of them will be tons of fun!! I previously mentioned that I would love to see “Why?” as a video and agree with others that “Any Other Day” would be a great choice. And last but certainly not least “Pretty Little Thing”.

  30. Congratulations again on the release of WHY? (!). All the songs are excellent and the arrangements are fabulous. Holiday season can’t arrive soon enough for me. 🍁🍁🍁

  31. Any Other Day is such a great song, I would love a video on that one.
Makes me believe there is a Cynthia Lennon type individual or 2 in your world?πŸ€”

  32. Reaction videos: what a terrific idea! I’m sure a lot of us have watched an old movie, listened to an old album, etc. and wondered what Mona and Lisa would think of it, because we know their feedback would be very cheerful and insightful. I’ll get busy making a list and checking it twice!

As far as music videos that could be made from the songs on Why?, I think the ultimate challenge would be to come up with imagery that does justice to the majestic and ominous sound of the title track. And Any Other Day would lend itself to a sweet treatment along the lines of some of the videos from the WWT album.

  33. Hi ladies! You both look radiantly beautiful today. I especially love Lisa’s hair style.
I will probably end up sending in some songs to react to. One will definitely be Christmas, the others will probably just be older songs probably without video. It will be interesting if you react to any of them.
Does this mean there will be no opening of presents on camera this year? I always look forward to that but I understand others may not be into it.
Peace, love and groovyness to you!
