Won’t You Listen Now – Behind The Scenes Video
How We Created The “Won’t You Listen Now” Video
Since we’d given Lisa a hard time in our video for “One More Time” we thought it should be Mona’s turn now to suffer a little bit.

We have to say that – to our great surprise – we picked a pretty nice and warm day for this shoot. Out of the more than 100 videos we’ve done so far, we’ve nearly lost a toe in what feels like 90 of them. We seem to have a tendency to do out-door shoots below the freezing point.
This production however was super pleasant in each and every aspect: We got all the group shots done in one day, everything pretty much worked out the way we wanted it to, we weren’t under a lot of time stress, the weather was gorgeous, all the filming locations were practically in front of our doorstep and hey, there even was a dog on set!
Talk about a perfect shoot 🙂

Do you remember us posting on Facebook about the Austrian Women’s Soccer Team arriving unrewarding fourth in the European Cup 2017 and about our inseparable bestest childhood friend Verena Aschauer? Verena has a twin brother called Markus who attended the same class as Verena and us in Primary School.
Our ways separated a little bit in high school as we attended different classes and interests (for them it was sports, for us it was music) but it was wonderful to get together from time to time and see in which ways we were all still pursuing the same passion we had since the early times. Verena for example always wanted to become a professional footballer, now she is one of Austria’s top players on the National Women’s Team! And Markus, well he scored himself the leading part of “Mona’s crush” in “Won’t You Listen Now” 😉

Childhood sweethearts 😉 From left to right: Verena, your guess, your guess, Markus

First we had put all our artistic drawing skills to use and conjured up a mighty fine storyboard (see photo on the top left). We’d even add angry eyebrows on some of the stickmen to really bring the emotion across. Then we dummy-shot all the scenes beforehand to get an idea of how we wanted it all to look.
Luckily, there was no shortage of bus stops and parks where we lived back then in 2013. We started in our tiny Austrian village and ended up in the beautifully landscaped Eckartsau Castle park only some miles away.
Dad together with our friend “Fuxi” (a fellow musician in our drumming ensemble, also studying graphics and photography) did all the filming, and slowly but surely did we work our way through the hand-drawn sketchbook.
At some point, however, Dad went missing and wasn’t there to handle the situation when the frustrated old lady from next door came shouting at us, telling Mona to stop serenading her crush in front of his window. If Dad had been there he would have told her off for sure!

A big thank you to everyone involved – “Papa” Rudi and Michaela (costumes, behind-the-scenes filming), Fuxi (camera assistant), Markus, Doris for letting us “borrow” her rock-star dog Jack, and of course Philipp (drums) and Michael “Moz” (bass) for a memorable and successful video production. Watch the final video below!
Stay groovy,Mona & Lisa
This video is full of humour and is very very well put together.
.
As a keen follower of football men and ladies. I was blown away to find this from a few years ago. Now known as Verena Hanshaw, a very gifted and physically strong lady. Austria are a very strong team. They guarantee any of Europe’s best a very tough game. Verena plays her club football in Germany which is arguably Europe’s foremost league.
It’s amazing what you come upon in the MLT Club!!
My guess is Verena, Mona, and Lisa with her head on the very lucky Markus. And, even if I’m wrong, Markus is still lucky!
I love the song and I love the video. Great job on both. Finicky doggie, but very pretty and photogenic. Perfect for the video. Mona, you were awesome- Great performance!!!
I’m a dog lover, but if I’m Markus, and Mona had a crush on me, the dog is left behind. My guess is Mona is Ms. USA. Stay groovy. Peace be.
At 2:15 into the Behind The Scenes video – Mona writes, “Somehow this looks stupid. I mean, really stupid.”
But I disagree. I think that shot of you is really adorable – and you look so cute. I think it’s a really nice shot – and it added to the overall video.
In the actual video for the song… at 3:10 Mona finally picks up the phone to call. But the funny thing is that she almost knocked the lamp over when she picks up the phone. You could have re-shot that… but I’m glad you left that in there.
Btw… I love all the videos you did for that first album of originals. Great job on all those songs and videos.
Brilliant. It is so nice you bothered to write and film so much of the background work, it makes me feel like I was almost there.
I love this video! And, I Love the song. ?
I love to watch behind the scenes of how the family all works together and it is easy to take for granted all the work that go’s in to making a video.
Great song and performance. One of my favorites.
You covered all the basics… Dog roles… Papa Rudi cameo in disguise… Childhood crush… Great weather… Great locations…. Etc… Yippee…So to that I say… Come on… “Won’t You Listen Now”… Go on… It’s a Groovy tune… Groovy video… Get Yer Sing Along Workout….
Liked this one from the first listen. Has a good hook and sounds so much like the mid to late 1960s. Mike.
A really lovely, sweet song with a nice, gently pleading story to go with it. Fine acting all round. Do you have to talk papa Rudi into participating, or is he a willing actor? Anyway, thanks for sharing the behind the scenes action. This is something I appreciate with all the songs in the ‘When We’re Together’ DVD, which I highly recommend to all.
Thanks so much for sharing “behind the scenes” of this video. It’s a catchy little tune and the video is light-hearted and fun to watch. I think having the dog in the video kicked it up a notch for us animal lovers. Mona was so cute with her hair in curls. Very entertaining!
This is goes in my quirky faves for the storyline..The Grouchy Granny appearance…etc…a catchy original for sure and this video captured all the essences …There waa never a need to ” GO BACK TO DRAWING BOARD ” ????????????????????????????????❤️☮️✌️????????????????
We residents of the British Isles call Jack the dog an Old English Sheepdog. What do you call the breed?
