When We’re Together – Q&A

A deep dive into “When We’re Together”

Over the last few weeks we’ve invited you to submit questions about our original debut album “When We’re Together” which is turning 10 next year! Can you believe it?

You asked details about some of the videos we made for the album, the various aspects of the recording process or the song lyrics, and we loved delving a bit deeper into the album with this Q&A.

We filmed this at the same mansion in which we created the video for I Bought Myself A Politician. While we were waiting for the sun to go down for our night shooting, we had a couple of spare hours that we thought we could use to film the Q&A video and show off one of the beautiful Chesterfield sofas and fancy cushions. 😉

We enjoyed the special occasion and thank you all for your creative and interesting questions. We are already looking forward to the next one and were thinking of making it about ORANGE, but your suggestions in the comments are welcome, too!

Stay groovy,

Mona & Lis

  1. This Q&A was very interesting. ‘ When We’re Together’ is a masterpiece’. To think this was made by a couple of young teenage wunderkind blows me away. The melodies are sublime.

However, the bird routine was comedy genius!!

    Mona and Lisa rock!

  2. I always look forward to your Q and A sessions, we get to enjoy your personalities in greater depth. I watch each one 3 times (actually a lot more than that). I watch it once as presented, then I watch it 2 more times concentrating on each twin separately. Mona steals the show with this one , first here UNITY and then her look for the Birds can Sing question. I really laughed at that one. I appreciate you taking the time and providing the back stories for these songs in the personal way that you do. Keep up the great work and don’t ever change!

  3. Been a busy last few days for me. Finally got around to catching up! Awesome Qs and better As! I ???? that you do these Q&As for us! Always a special treat!

  4. “And that was my cry for help.” LOL! I laughed SO HARD at that! What a great Q&A! Thank girls for doing these, it’s so great hearing you talk about music. I LOVE that album a lot.

  5. That was so interesting!! I guess Wide Wide Land will always be my favorite from the album because when I received it my mother was going through the last stages of Alzheimer’s and it reminds me of her. Toward the end of her life I would visit her at the nursing home and many patients there had Alzheimer’s as well and the thing that struck me is that they would just start singing at any time songs from the 1930s and 1940s and get them word perfect and nearly not perfect. I was told at the nursing home that the memory of music would be the last thing to go with Alzheimer patients. Anyway……that song will always be reminiscent of my mother and the patients where I visited her. Thanks!! You never know what impact your music will have one people!!. A pic of her is below. Mike.

  6. Lots of interesting stuff, lots of fun, just plain love you guys. Once again I feel like I’m stealing from you for 10 bucks a month!

  7. 11: 13 I didn’t understand what was happening for a few seconds. The effect can be used in movies. You are just wonderful girls!I wish you and everyone and myself to use the opportunities inherent in us 100 percent.A flower in a field cannot sing a song, but it uses 100 percent all the possibilities inherent in it.Ha ha, so some philosophical thoughts come to mind.

  8. That was such a great album!!! My favorite song has to be June with The Wide, Wide Land coming in a close second.
Just the filming of June was great with the swampy area switching to the field flowers and Mona was a great idea. The
filming of This Boy is Mine was great because of the back drop of an actual club and the mic and stand almost going down. Was this an actual gig or was it staged? Thanks for the Q & A, I always love how you both get along so well and crack each other up, you are so much fun to watch!!! Stay Groovy!!!!!!

  9. Very interesting video, I loved hearing about how everything transpired back then. You are both so very lucky to have such supportive parents. And they are lucky to have such hard working, very nice, beautiful, talented, smart children in the two of you!
I love the album “When We’re Together” and I very much enjoy all of the videos as well. I hope you will do some videos for, at least some of the songs on “Orange.” I would love to see a video of “Sweet Lorraine” as well as some of my other favorites on that album. And I’m so excited that you are coming out with a new album. But, “When We’re Together” will always be a special album for me. I think the songs are great and I love the videos. You two ARE the definition of GROOVY!!!

  10. I really love the q & a videos. It’s like being in the room with you! Thank you for your thoughtful answer to my question. You always put a lot of thought into your answers. You also have a lot of fun, which makes the videos even more special. I would love to see another one on the Orange album. You girls are the grooviest! Hugs from Wisconsin!

  11. I am with Rick, This Boy is Mine is a gem, and the drums and guitar work on this number is beyond perfection!! But thank you both so much for answering mine and Maddie’s question on Wide Wide Land, which Maddie loves. This part of the club is worth membership to me, you get to actually ask questions and you take the time to answer as many as you can and your light heart approach and humor is such a breath of fresh air to me. I love the Q and A Segments please keep them coming as best you can and I am with Jung can’t wait for the Q and A Segment on your brilliant album Orange and oh yea have I mentioned that my favorite song is Count on Me? LOL…Oh well guess I have from time to time…LOL..A great way to go into the weekend!! Stay groovy Mona and Lisa and love the back ground today so cool of a place to be in.

  12. Q&A on location – what a great idea. These are always so informative. I enjoy hearing how you all process everything. At times it seems like your To Do List is so long that when you find yourself with a spare hour, the list comes out to see if you can complete another objective.

You two are hilarious. I couldn’t stop laughing during the “I Don’t Know Birds” section. Mona’s deadpan stare is perfect as Lisa goes on and on about her writing process.

These are always fun. Thanks for sharing your memories.

  13. Such a cool idea to film the Q and A in that mansion, and such great questions asked, and so much wonderful insight you provided into the album and video creation. Loved seeing your end of year school performance clip of “One More Time”. That sweet old lady in “The Wide, Wide Land” video reminded me of my mom too!

Hearing about your song writing process and technique is so interesting, and loved the “we’re all in this together” and unity aspect of the album title “When We’re Together”. Great song too, and the lyrics to that song I always found so heart warming.

Thanks so much for this, always enjoy your Q and A videos so much, and the time passes too quickly when I watch it cause it’s so fun and enjoyable! The next Q and A topic about Orange sounds like a great idea!

  14. Hi there, Loved this Q&A, interesting Qs asked and I enjoyed your answers. It was great to see some BTS footage I haven’t seen in awhile…. and by the way that room you were in to film this, it stunning, it complimented well in providing the groovy atmosphere to which to answer the Qs at….
Thoroughly impressed, had fun listening/watching and learned more new things from both of you about the workings of what all goes into making an album, enjoyed you strolling down memory lane. I’m sure the Deer heads and any other creatures there, took in your replies with quiet respect….. Thankyou for doing this Q&A video and on location…
#MLTBuzzLuvGroovified for sure, made my Friday, Wknd…. ????☮

  15. Hello Ladies!

    What an interesting Q&A.
Love the insights into all the songs. Interesting answer to my question as well.
One More Time seems to be a fan favorite that will follow you the rest of your career. And why not, its a Dynamic song. I never knew One More Time was the first and Easiest song on the album. Really interesting
I was surprised that your award winning song This Boy Is Mine was not mentioned. I know you won the Golden Kayak for it (congratulations) I think that as much as any other song you have written has the 60s sound stamped all over it.
Thanks Ladies for such a fun, informative, and Interesting Q&A.
    Best Always
    Rick
